Odd how everyone’s acting is so terrible in this beside berlin’s when they are usually not even bad actors.
I actually watched this first and then the original and the difference in quality is very prominent. None of the characters (beside Berlin) have ounce of charisma and depth they had in the original. Whoever decided to make Tokyo a kpop fan is diabolical and needs an exorcism. Denver’s saturi is terrible, his character is flat. Nairobi is oversexualized, has no personality and her acting is off putting. The professor is not interesting, the female police is terrible at acting and has no charisma whatsoever.
Everything from the story, acting, directing and writing is mediocre at best. If the description sounds interesting just watch the original. Everything is so underwhelming compared to the original it’s actually ridiculous.
This show followed hometown chacha’s path as it became a boring cheap romance cringefest ever since the FL started dating.
The ML is one dimensional and boring, he has no personality&purpose outside of being used for badly written romance. He has no complexity which is to be expected from the writer who has shown by far to posses no moralistic nuance whatsoever.
The story serves just another bad guys vs good guys trope and was only interesting in the beginning because of the FL’s autism. The most overrated drama I’ve watched this year.
The writing is messy and sub par sometimes. The characters are flat. The story _tries_ to be “deep” but the delivery is mediacore at most and the lines are corny. Jungwoo is a great actor but his character is not interesting enough to make you sit through the entire show
The acting was good, everything else from plot to unrealistic fight scenes and writing was mediacore and forgettable. It was just another flat good guys vs bad guys action movie with no substance.
The fight scenes with detective ma made me cringe at times but son sukku was great like always despite playing a one dimensional antagonist. Neither the characters or plot had any depth.
The FL’s acting is amazing! I like this show by far but I would enjoy it way more if there were no romance at all. I wish kdrama writers didn’t feel the need to add romance lines to every story
This drama was a great idea with poor execution. The only truly interesting scene was the car scene. The characters and story were rushed and failed to deliver nuanced layers. The beautiful directing made this show look more promising than it actually was.

The extended version shows more world building and fleshes out characters far more than the original version. Imo we get a deeper view of hideko’s character and her relationship with seokhee more in the extended version. The extended version contains all the details that add layers to the original story but were cut out most likely because the movie would be considered “too long”.

After the hike scene :) the hike scene was symbolism for their first night, it never actually happened. You can see the lamp is still working and not broken before they show MJ washing her hair in the middle of the night (again another symbolism for sex)

I’m glad someone enjoys reading my rambling. After she washed her hair and couldn’t get sleep! His being athlete and then working as a host doesn’t translate to the international audience the same way as it does to korean audiences because of the cultural nuance. A lot of korean communities talked about it when the show was airing and it was confirmed he used to be a host boy.
Even after finishing ep 19 the amount of empathy and understanding I have for dongseok’s mother is very limited. I don’t know how the writer is planning to wrap things up but I’ll be pissed if they try to quilt-trip viewers and DS into forgiving his excuse of a mother
