Yes they separated for a while… to be exact the angst starts in eps32 n lasted till eps39, they actually finally made up in eps40… all angst between that eps n actually it was out of characters n unreasonable… it’s a problem from the past generation, there were some indirect evidence that her dad was related to the death of his mother… n the last few eps will prove that it’s not true…
If u see her other historical dramas, the pattern is the same more or less, at least for LOY & TBARP… good potential story, superb chems with ML, trainwreck for around the last 10eps, n ended happily in the last eps… 🤦🏻♀️ So i stayed for her chems with her costars n def not for the plot… but no regret, i always enjoy it overall…
The assault was a result of the villain setting up FL to be assaulted but failed, n in the end it happened to her instead… so it’s her own fault anyway, but noone deserved that, so like i said, bad writing… somehow by that happened to her the writer wanna justify all her wrongdoings n that’s the punishment for her lots n lots of evil doings, n she did like lots! U’ll know what i mean if u watch this drama…

Yeah… lastnight i bingewatched eps33-40 for 3hrs max i guess? Like i said, FFWD like crazy, the angst was unbearable that i skipped lots esp the scenes without any of the leads n sometimes only stopped for some contexts… 🤣 JJY got some interesting dramas like LOY n TBARP, but i watched mostly for her chems with her ML… coz just like this drama, potential good story at the start, good chems with ML, then trainwreck of angsts around the last 10eps till the end… 🤦🏻♀️
I also watched IACOH, was excited coz i watched the korean version n this one has JJY & SWL! However too high expectation i guess, coz it wasn’t that good IMO… i hate the fact that almost nobody suspected she was a girl for almost till the end, like how? Plus since she was mostly a boy in the drama, not that many cute moments… i watched n skipped lots but stayed till the end for SWL ofcourse… 😉

After trying to scheme JBN n foundout by the Emperor, she was punished to be imprisoned at Longevity Hill for the rest of her lives never to get out n stripped off all the titles… so yeah… they don’t wanna punish too hard I guess.. even Gao kinda redeemed herself n now she lives happily with LiLin! After all the things she has done… 🙄 atleast ZX is exiled… he is just obsessed till the end… wanting JBN to have a miscarriage by giving her medicine… lying to the Emperor that JBN wants LQ to be sent to prison for her grandma’s death n let LQ got kidnapped by QT otw… he is just a hopeless jerk! 🤦🏻♀️

I wouldn’t have made it if i had watched this ongoing… i stopped at 32 then i just bingewatched the last 8eps… n FFWD like crazy… the angst is to be expected from JJY’s kinds of dramas… almost like TBARP, neverending angst till the end kind.. bad writing for the last 8eps… it had potential since it started so good, but they had to ruin it with the unnecessary angsts near the end… 🤦🏻♀️
