More about control than love
Since everyone seems to love this I want to document a very different view -The tall one is the "I'm possessive but it's romantic"-type but it's actually disturbing. In real life he would be a huge walking red flag and this whole thing would lead to a toxic and dangerous relationship. I personally don't enjoy or like that kind of thing. I get the appeal of someone being so into you they can't stop themselves but I've never seen it executed in a way that doesn't make me cringe hard and see how it's not lovely but threatening and dysfunctional and more about control than love. I still skipped through 8 episodes bc if you skip over the unpleasant non-romantic red-flag moments the bits in between are really sweet and affecting. (I've still seen most of those 8 episodes bc when I started to realize what I've laid out here I wanted to verify that impression. Also once you watch the scene it's so cute at first and than it turns into a car crash - very uncomfortable but can't look away.) And I actually think the lead actor who plays Aoki acts quite well. He just seems way too old for this story. As they all do.
