These barbarians need to have better heating system to avoid all the bloodshed.
Personally, I found this reasoning very questionable. Humans can adapt to the harshest surroundings and still thrive as a culture, there are many around the world who did and still do and all they usually want is to be left in peace. Also the whole "children born in winter don't survive" shtick, as if they have no control over when children are born. Why put your women repeatedly through something that has no future AND that could potentially endanger their health and lives (as a pregnancy does), when you can do the math yourself and easily find the best time of the year to stick your naughty parts in them. That bit made me kind of mad.
I've enjoyed this drama immensely in the last few days. It's dark, it's smart, and though most characters are completely off their hinges in one way or another, there's always enough humanity left in them to make you both care about their struggles and be fascinated by them.
The story unfolds in a way that makes watching it very addicting and most episodes end on a bit of a cliffhanger, too, so this has my absolute top priority right now.
Anyway, excellent drama and excellent acting by everyone involved, couldn't recommend it more. I'm so glad Cheng Yi's year ends with such a banger of a drama.
The beginning maybe, but the main story takes place around the same time as The Mystic Nine. Fo Ye/Zhang Qishan…
I suppose there will be a time skip at some point. Since a bunch of Zhangs are involved in this, some of them will still be alive when Wu Xie starts his adventures many years later.
I wish it was a glitch. These start to feel like targeted attacks to me. =/I first noticed this when The Wanted…
Exactly, that's why the manipulation of the ratings makes me so angry. I mean, yeah, MDL is a fan site, but it still has a massive amount of users and a lot of them pay attention to the rating. Like, one of my favorite dramas ever is Tientsin Mystic (both seasons) from the same director. The second season in particular got a rating that makes it look like it's not worth watching and that annoys me so much. There's barely anyone I can talk to about this drama because most people just haven't seen it.

Or maybe only verified accounts should be able to vote for a while, that should quickly weed out the spam accounts. Anyway.
Agreed, people don't have the patience for slow burn romances anymore. Everyone has to fall in love at first sight immediately in the first episode. ;)
I wish it was a glitch. These start to feel like targeted attacks to me. =/ I first noticed this when The Wanted Detective aired which had a big drop in ratings early on for reasons I couldn't figure out at all. See my comment further down, I mostly noticed this with dramas that don't focus primarily on romance.
This seems to become the new normal. I've seen this several times now: a new drama has a rating way above 8, until suddenly there's a large number of down votes and the rating drops down to 7.
This mostly happens with dramas that don't have a romance or where the plot doesn't focus on the romance in particular. Both Blood River and Whispers of Fate suffered from this recentlyâboth are currently still around 8, but they still used to be much, much higherâ and Love on the Turquoise Land is only the newest target for those people. (Or maybe they're spam accounts? I can't be bothered to find out.)
It's super annoying, though, and it makes me take MDL ratings no longer seriously.
I finished the drama yesterday and I'm still processing everything. What a ride this was, especially the second half of the show. I don't think I have cried this much watching the last few episodes of a drama since I watched Fangs of Fortune, and that's not an easy thing to accomplish. I don't get the current MDL rating at all; I can only guess that people got too bored with this drama too quickly and didn't take their time to see the plot unravel itself bit by bit. Anyway. This one will always have a special place in my heart.
Another reason why I am highly anticipating good quality for this show is because the director, Tian Li is the…
Agreed! I loved both seasons of "Tientsin Mystic" a lot and he directed them both, so his involvement was what made me decide to watch this in the first place (well, that and the trailer looks cool). Another highly anticipated drama he directed is "Sea of Dreams", but that one is hard sci-fi and I'm not sure it will ever get released.
I just finished watching the drama and the second half was even better than the first one! The stakes were steadily raised higher and higher, as some old secrets were revealed, and it was thrilling to watch the characters trying to outmaneuver each other. I think the end was very appropriate, too. For such a short format, this was an excellent drama. Great writing and pacing, excellent acting and chemistry, good soundtrack, andâand this is always worth mentioning in my bookâsome really well-written female characters that had actual AND distinctive personalities and an agenda.
I'd rate this a bit lower if this was a long-form drama, but since it did really well with the short format and completely exceeded my expectations and since the only things I have to criticize are the costumes (way too modern sometimes) and the slightly rocky start, this gets easily a 8.5/10 from me.
If you scroll up to the drama description, there are links under "Where to watch Vengeance of the Mountain God". If those are not what you're looking for, then I can't help you. I don't watch dramas illegally, so I wouldn't know where else to find them.
This is a really good drama so far! Gives me a lot of "Tientsin Mystic" vibes (not surprising, it's from the same author) with its setting, the unique atmosphere and the interesting mix of genres.
I like both main leads a lot, as well as the support characters, who are both memorable and likeable which is not an easy achievement in a drama with such short episodes, so that's just evidence of good writing & acting. Can't wait to watch the rest of the episodes. â¤ď¸
Season 2 has already been filmed and is done, and it has been filed for release in August. So if it's not released…
Season 2 has already been filed with 18 episodes. That should cover the story until the end of the Heavenly Palace arc. After that come the events of Ultimate Note, which should be another 36 episodes in total (or 2x18 episodes, if they should decide to stick with the format).

I may have despised her character in Romance on the Farm, but her acting was SO, so good.
So you decide.

So many shots that look like an artwork.

Besides, yourâor even my ownâpersonal opinion on these dramas is not the point here.
