Haha, me too. WWX and LWJ had a dynamic that was very similar to that of Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling, so XZ and WYB would have been perfect in these roles.

I think they did a pretty decent job when they were working together again, but it was very noticeable who was the brains behind it all. 😂

But seriously, their relationship is one of my favorite ones in this drama.

I just watched the scene in episode 16 with both of them having a drink together and then fighting afterwards (which was heartbreaking to watch), and wow, yes, I know absolutely what you mean. 😂

I was actually super excited of the possibility of a historical prequel to the The Lost Tomb series. I think a lot of the DMBJ fans were when this drama was announced back then (waaaaaaay back, when it was still called Tibetan Sea Opera). The Lost Tomb only deals with the aftermath of the impact these people had on history, but seeing their actual lives and hardships would be really amazing.

So that's why I'm hoping there'll be some connection to that universe.
Anyway, we'll find out at some point, I'm sure.

This gives me such GreedFall vibes, except it's darker. Maybe it's the fancy European hats?
Love Chu Sijing and Angelica so far, their alliance is interesting. The teenage actors are also pretty good. :)

What is this supposed to prove? I'm honestly confused here. I thought we had already established that Xu Lei is not involved.
However, we still don't know how much of the DMBJ lore will be of importance to the drama – and we won't know that for sure until the drama is actually out.
So arguing about this is still pretty much pointless.

Currently only on Youku, but it might follow on iQIYI and Youtube in the next few weeks, like the first one did.

I've got to admit that most of the things he stars in are not my cup of tea, even The Lonely Warrior is already a bit out of my comfort zone (I'm usually more into costume dramas). But maybe I'll try and have a look at one or the other, because I just really love his acting. ❤

I've only seen him in Tomb of the Sea so far, and though he's not even the main character in that one, he still manages to be my favorite actor to play Wu Xie.
He's just SO good.

That's what some people here seem to think, but personally I don't share that opinion.
We DO still know very little at this point though, so the best strategy right now is to just wait and see. :)

Yes, I know the premise. Why would this show be about tomb robbing? He's not a tomb robber but an architect, among other things. As anyone would know who actually knows a few things about The Lost Tomb.

And as I said a few months ago: why even bother getting the rights for the story of a character from such a popular franchise when there won't be any connection in the drama to said franchise and its lore? Why not write an entirely new story instead and change the main character's name? Why take the credit but nothing else from DMBJ? It just doesn't make sense to me.
So until I've actually seen this drama and know the details of the plot, I won't waste my time arguing about this any longer.

I never said that Wang Zanghai was painted in a bad light, only that his descendants are many centuries after. And the Zhang family is super powerful at that time, to the point of doing a lot of pretty shady things, so he has good reasons to decide to fight that titan. So your first guess is most likely the right one.
I don't know what that last sentence is supposed to mean, but I've seen one or two dramas before. I get it. ;)

Apparently (though it's not official yet), the author of the books, Xu Lei, will be among the screenwriters.
This is going to be interesting.

And if (only if) I'm guessing correctly, this show will mark the beginning of the epic, century-long and deadly rivalry between the Wang family and the Zhang family.
I actually find it super interesting to have that story told from Wang Zanghai's perspective, to be honest, since the Wangs aren't exactly the good guys a thousand years later on.
But I guess we'll have to wait and see. I hope there'll be more details of the plot in the next few months. :)

The Mystic Nine: Qing Shan Hai Tang is, chronologically speaking, the very first one.
Other than that, I think the order doesn't matter as long as you've seen the shows that the movies are connected to.
So if you've seen The Mystic Nine then you won't have a problem to understand the Mystic Nine specials.
Watch the Tomb of the Sea specials after finishing Tomb of the Sea.
And the Reunion movies after finishing Reunion.
Both Conjuring Curse and Misty Creed (not yet released) also take place after the events of Reunion.
Only Time Raiders kind of stands on its own, you can watch that one whenever you like. Chronologically, it takes place around the same time as The Lost Tomb season 1.

3. The Lost Tomb 2 (2019)
4. The Lost Tomb 2: Heavenly Palace on the Clouds (2021)
5. Ultimate Note (2020)
6. Tibetan Sea Flower (which hasn't been released yet)
7. Tomb of the Sea (2018)
8. Reunion: The Sound of the Providence (2020) season 1 & 2

There's also a bunch of movies, some with the actors from the shows, some with a completely new cast, but none of them are necessary to watch in order to understand the series.

I can't believe another one of those will be coming out so soon after the first one. What a time to be alive. ❤
I wonder how many of those they've made/planned to make with the same cast.
