Per usual, the MDL comments are rife with immature, half-fledged opinions on a drama because its not rainbows and butterflies and saccarine romance. Skip the comments, watch and think for yourself. I personally believe its great. A slice of life drama with realistic characters. Neo does a great job here (i think its been immensely helpful to hear his real voice and true vocal inflections vs a cleaned up dub that masks his acting. No more "constipated face acting" here, to which I am delighted).
The music omg. I rarely notice bgm but this one made me want to scratch my ears off. They layered on it.
Its truly awful. I really feel like the writers think we're all dumb. Its like the music is TELLING us how we should feel, while the repeat scenes and over-explaining tells us what we should think. I get it, guys. You just showed this SAME flashback 30min ago. I remember, now move it along.
Such a tried and true soap opera formula. I'm watching it for the ML/FL relationship and how that shifts from enemies to what seems like the beginning of a son/mother or guardian type relationship. Other than that, the campy music, ridiculously heavy-handed repetition of her traumatic scenes (seriously, the amount of times they repeat scenes feels like the writers think we all have dementia), and over explaining of everything (again, we're not stupid), is a LOT to handle without my eyes twitching.
is this part better than the first one? i got bored in this first around ep 8-10, is this part more interesting?
Make your own decision. I adored it. People in these comment sections can be WAY too petty. Don't miss out on an incredible drama because of a few comments among the fray.
Just watched Ep 13: Jang Juwon and that crushed me. I havent bawled like that in a really long time. The dressing room scene. My god, that was just devastating.
I just got to the part in the series where they show his backstory and the tone shifts to a darker narrative. I assume this is where most people shift and they got pissy that the drama wasnt the same as the 1st half. SO GLAD I WATCHED ANYWAY. The shift makes total sense, and i loved the backstory explaining who he used to be, what happened, and why he is the way he is now. I thought it was fascinating and totally in line with the drama. There were moments earlier during periods of levity, like when they were drinking beer that a darker look with a story would flash across his face and just as quickly disappear. This portion of the drama explains those moments and it all makes sense. Love this show.
Everyone in this drama is beautiful. EVERYONE. It is a feast for the eyes, and I am devouring my plate. I'm also in loveee with the colors and textures of this drama. Every single thing, person, place is just gorgeous
Namkoong Min's voice is its own character in this drama. Every sound that comes out of his mouth ascends me. My goodness graceous, what a stellar voice. 🤤
I dropped this like a sack of potatoes. I'll only continue watching this god-awful drama by utilizing their overwrought, lazy reminder about the Di family's misfortune for a drinking game. My lord. The repetition of which writers felt it necessary to remind us about their tragedy as if we're drooling cows incapable of comprehension. I'm honestly surprised they didn't break into a slow-cadenced song for toddlers, explaining the plot and "why we should be sad" to us. I loved Gong Jun in Word of Honor. His facial expressions were animated and emoted hysteria, rage, flirtatiousness, and love with a sometimes exaggerated flair that added to his character's flamboyance in the most exhilarating way. He was a color of beige in this drama, and it's a real shame. Plus, how many times is he gonna be thrown off a cliff? This drama makes it, what, 5? Dilraba's acting'll never convince me. I don't know if she's ever experienced real-life trauma (or proper coaching) in a way that gives her gravitas for her heavier scenes; she just looks like she's Dilraba acting sad. Her grief never convinces me. The earlier episodes with her sassy flirtatiousness was more believable, and I thought they were funny enough. I had a lot of expectations overall that fell so very flat.
YASSSS
BASK IN THE GLORY OF UHM TAE GOO'S DRAMATIC ACTING.
Boy is on fireeee with his eye acting. Good LORDT, SLAY, KING.
Sincerely, a longtime simp of that delicious smokey voice. 😋
