Whoever wrote this must have been drunk... But I'm so glad they did

Every episode I questioned why I was watching it, but neither me (nor my mum) could put it down.

I'm not sure what I was expecting when going into this drama. What I wanted was something silly to distract myself from the stress of job interviews and applications.... and oh boy was this drama it. It is hard to pin exactly what I liked about it, but I found myself smiling most episodes and laughing about the ridiculousness of every situation.

The drama has a sort of completed feeling. Each episode, except forthe first, leads you to explore the lives of the main cool boys through the eyes of Ikeda Ryouma. Despite its bizarre concept, it had a lot of meaningful messages and ended up feeling like a warm hug, when you weren't laughing at the insane situation they were in.

I understand this style is not for everyone. However, if you want something easy to watch which will keep you entertained and leave you with a complete and warm feeling, give this a try. There is nothing massively new and exciting, but the drama also fails to be cliche. It was refreshing to see healthy family and friend dynamics and I really loved the plot, acting and the music.

How to avoid the obvious for 43 episodes

I will start off by saying, I was pleasantly surprised by this drama. The reviews were not bad, but I had expected to find it difficult for me to watch based off previous attempts to watch the first episode.

I loved the acting by Chen Zheyuan, Hu Yitian and Vicky Liang. I really enjoyed the dynamics and chemistry the three shared despite circumstances pulling them apart. I liked how feelings came and left and that they did not automatically abandon their aims for each other. Whether for right or wrong, you could really see how their different upbringings drove their decisions and priorities, and why they could or could not accept certain sacrifices.
I also really enjoyed how a 'righteous' upbringing did not make the characters more feeling or make better/more morally correct decisions.
It has also been a while since I have sat on the edge of my seat screaming in desperation for a character to be killed.

But this is where we get to the but. I did not enjoy Su Ying's character (likely due to her vicious nature) and could not bring myself to like her relationship with Xiao Yu'er (he had more chemistry with almost every other female character imo).
Also, I don't understand how they could drag the rivalry out for that many episodes without them finding out the main secret... I began to get sick of the diversions... I also felt that all the villains (except for one) got off too lightly... but maybe that is my craving for revenge, and I can accept the brother's decisions.

Honestly, with the dragging out, if it had not been for Hei Zhi Zhu and Muroung Jiu, I'm not sure I could have gotten through this drama.

The cutest romance with a dark twist

I never really write reviews but I needed to for this drama. Everytime that I thought that the plot could not take me by surprise or that I couldn't like the couple anymore, it got better.

If you are looking for a non-toxic romance with greenlight leads, communication and some spice, this drama is amazing. It is comforting yet has a dark subplot that not only supports the other plots, but also keeps you hooked until the very end.
This drama was like a warm comforting hug and I just could not get enough
