Bai Ziqian arc is one of my favorites! It was so sweet and moving and especially healing. If they remove this I will be so disappointed. I guess I"ll have to read it to put my heart at ease.

I agree that he can be a good devil god but he can only be that once the evil bone is removed. The drama really whitewashed him because we don't see the things he did in between the time he killed XL and the tower scene. He was still very evil and killing innocent people. Unfortunately in the drama they changed his character quite a bit during this portion. Maybe if I hadn't read the novel first I would think that LSS is going too far.

What makes him evil is the EVIL BONE. No matter that he feels love and emotions now, as long as that evil bone is inside of him he will continue to do questionable things. Those heart piercing nails is not to kill him. It's to help remove the evil bone. From ep 1 till now small clues are sprinkled in throughout. For instance if your rewatch the first several episodes you will notice that Xiaoyao sect keeps sending things like heart guarding scales and even Pang Yi Zhi wonders why his sect is all of a sudden starting to care about the stuff going on in the mortal world. From the very beginning we know that everything happening now is predetermined. What I appreciate about LSS is that she is single minded about her purpose. Yes she is falling in love with him but she can't let herself get wrapped up in it because no matter what that evil bone has to come out or he will become devil god and massacre the whole world. She also knows that the evil bone influences everything he does. He can do all the good in the world but after he dies his mortal death, he will till become the evil devil god unless she removes it. This is why she has to try the nails. As for Xiao Lin, her concern is that he will die before he can make it through his human trial to become immortal. He is like family to her (like a brother) and in her mind she is helping family. TTJ won't understand her sacrifice till after the evil bone is removed, but he will understand later.
