Episodes 33-36: Ting Yun and her sisters

When ZL tells TY, I'm back, you just know he meant more than just being back from the mission. He meant ZL was back, not the man that he became while in the capitol. And when TY greeted him, I'm glad you're back, she knew exactlty what he meant. 😭😭😭 It was the first time in a really long time that ZL truly smiled. 🥲🥲🥲

Episode 36:

I think they actually lost the battle here. 😭😭

ZL was right when he said that the ledger of all the people Madam Wu was bribing couldn't have saved Mo Yi. Even if it proved that Mo Yi didn't ask for bribes and thus had no motive to kill Madam Wu, it won't solve the case. It would only prove Mo Yi was innocent but the Anzhou merchants would still be an uproar, demanding justice. And for the Emperor, that is not the conclusion he wants. What he needed was to temper the anger of the merchants, hush down the whispers in court and pave the way for the Salt Reform. Mo Yi was innocent but the Emperor had already deemed it necessary for him to die. Mo Yi is the "justice" the Emperor needed.

Oh yes, I also want to see her angry.

Yes! Kinda excited for that one. And from the previews, it seems like FYK is going to go a little bit crazy in the Yu household. Well well well....

The relationship between ZL and TY right now feels like two people walking on a dark, foggy road. It's scary and ZL, in his desire to protect TY, puts a shield over her eyes so that she doesn't have to see how scary it is. But she already knows its scary and wants to protect him, too. But walking around with a shield over your eyes makes it impossible. And when new scary things come their way, he keeps trying to shield her while he fights those new scary things. Meanwhile, she struggles to understand the things she can't see clearly and feels helpless that she can't understand and that she can't protect him.

Previews have so far been very misleading.

I got the impression that TY was doing that to convince Madam Wang to allow A'sen to marry her daughter while ZL was convincing Commander Wang. Not as a separate strategy but the on the same line as ZL's to form an alliance between the two families

Oh yes. Right now, ZL and TY are more like the Emperor's pawns. And also, the real power in the court has always belonged to the powerful nobles, no? Like Grand Secretary Yu. Even the emperor cannot go against them directly because their influence are far more reaching than the emperor's.

Ep 31 made it very clear where the relationship between the emperor and ZL stands. He is the emperor. He's not a friend. He's not an ally. He will use the people around his as he sees fit. He doesn't just want loyalty, he wants complete obedience. 😫

I think he was saying a lot of self-serving things. He was trying to convince himself that even though ZL got promoted, he would eventually fall.

Just watched that preview again and had to fight the urge to peel YJX's nasty fingers away from TY. 🤮

YJX. Ewww. 🤮 But in the preview of Ep33 and 34, ZL and TY are still planning things together. Probably just ragebait?

i think i replied above. but yeah. the emperor tells ZL to have Mo Yi executed to settle the uproar of the murder or Madame Wu. And General Mo was not guilty at all, btw. So. 😭
