Was really good at first but quickly went downhill

I'm not very good at writing reviews and I have a lot to say so bear with me lol.

CW/ sexual harassment, bullying, SA, Spoilers, physical violence

Okay so I actually really liked this drama when it first started airing. If the rest of the drama was like the first few episodes, I would've given it an 8.5 or 9.0 easily. Entire cast was super cute and the acting was good!

HOWEVER! it wasn't long until I started seeing red flags and just terrible pacing and plot holes. Like did he own his dad so hard, he had to go into hiding?? lmao I wish we could have seen some character development and the reconciliation between them. Also, Taeyi grieving for 99% of the show and then suddenly letting go of his brother and trauma in the span of a minute? and the sudden reveal of both of their older brothers having feelings for each other felt so rushed and forced, it was unnecessary (was most likely just random plot thrown in to have them break up for .5 seconds lmao).

The biggest thing that turned me off of this drama was how toxic both of the relationships were.

Taeyi and Jooha treated Seheon and Doyoon terribly but a simple sorry (or a hug in Jooha's case?? lmao) was all they needed to forgive and forget? They deserved sooo much better. Jooha literally bullied and violently assaulted Doyoon MULTIPLE times (not to mention him sexually harassing Seheon and then it just never came up again/Seheon says "I'm fine now" and invites him to perform with them? like what?)

Both Taeyi and Jooha had really bad internalized homophobia which is a sad reality but they never resolved that or showed any character development and it kind of just felt like they were painting gay relationships to be something dirty and shameful.

And don't even get me started on Taeyi SA'ing Seheon outside the bar!! (what a strange and disgusting reaction to Seheon simply being there? no normal person would react that way, he needs to be locked up lol) Then he shows up like the next day, plays piano with him, touches his hand all affectionate lol, gives him a little "sorry I hurt you" and then it's all smiles and kisses?? Be so fr... and the way their relationship does an immediate 180 afterwards.. Taeyi didn't even seem like the same person! (ngl the winking at each other behind their hands was pretty cute tho lol). I had already checked out by the 6th episode and was powering through because I was already too far in, so by the time they got together, I couldn't even enjoy the cutesy moments/kisses/affection which is usually my favorite part ):<

They went from being hostile to acting like nothing ever happened. I wish they would've had the angst earlier on (or preferably not at all lol) and then showed character development for the last few episodes.

Also, the fake/blurred kisses were a little weird. I'd much prefer they didn't even have Jooha and Doyoon kiss (and I'd much MUCH prefer that they didn't have a relationship at all LMAO)

My rating is much lower than the other reviews I'm seeing but I really cannot stand dramas normalizing abusive and toxic relationships. If it was just the weird pacing and plot holes then I would've rated it higher.

I don't really know how I feel about this one

(SPOILER WARNING):
Okay so I loved it in the beginning and I thought their dynamic of her cooking for him and him only wanting to eat food made by her/nothing compares to her cooking was super cute but once they got together, it went soo downhill for me. Their relationship was so strange and toxic??? He started treating her like a child which was creepy and I feel like she lost her entire personality. I'm usually fine with age gaps in dramas but this one was just weird.

Also, the whole introducing her as his fiancée in front of dozens of people (without her consent) instead of actually asking her to marry him thing was actually insane. And she just went along with it and it wasn't addressed afterwards???? She didn't even act that surprised?

The plot with the brother was insane as well. He basically drugged her (w alcohol) and tried to seduce her/take advantage of her naiveite to retaliate against ML. Also, whyy did they make FL seem so stupid and naive all of a sudden? Like idk if I'm going overboard but it was borderline emotional cheating with all the lying and going behind ML's back. I get that they made it so she didn't know what his motives were and she was just trying to help fix their relationship but ML literally made it clear that he was uncomfortable with her talking to him and I also feel like it's just common sense and anyone could see the tension in their relationship. I don't understand why ml didn't just explain his relationship with his little brother to FL clearly. That literally would've solved so many issues. Also, the way ML just forgave the little brother in the end too as if he didn't take advantage/se.xually harass his gf as if she was an object?? and FL had nothing to say about it either? Bro...

So proud of Kyungsoo <333

Just finished watching and I LOVED IT!! It has my two favorite things: Space and Doh Kyungsoo :3 My review is probably a bit biased because I'd enjoy a movie with Kyungsoo just sitting there doing nothing for 2 hours lol but I really enjoyed this! The plot was pretty typical of a space movie (The Martian vibes) but there was never a point where I was bored and I actually cried a lot lol.

Like everyone else is saying in their reviews, the CGI is amazing!! I've never seen a Korean film with this good of CGI (might just be inexperienced though). The acting is also amazing! I loved Sol Kyung Gu as Kim Jae Guk and ofc Kyungsoo (I'll get more into his acting in a sec tho lol). Overall, I definitely recommend watching this film!

(SPOILER WARNING):
One thing I didn't love (but not a huge deal or anything) was the typical english acting lol. I just always find it so cheesy and the actors they chose at NASA were so stereotypically American it was hilarious (especially the big boss guy who keeps trying to sabotage the rescue mission (dad from the Incredibles vibes). Kyungsoo did amazing with his english lines tho omg <3

Now onto the most important part: Kyungsoo's acting <333 he is such an amazing actor, he really pulled this role off spectacularly. I sobbed my eyes out when I got to the part where he almost gives up and turns the oxygen valve off ):: His acting is so convincing, I could sing his praises endlessly!!!! I'm soso proud of how far he's come and I hope to see him in more dramas/films in the future.

I'm going to pretend the second half of this drama doesn't exist

Okay so I absolutely loveddd the first half of this drama. The second half not so much.....

I rated this pretending that the second half doesn't exist

(Spoiler Warning):

The relationship between the characters was soo sweet and the way they handled their traumatic backstories was so well done. The first part of this drama is absolutely amazing and one of the best things I've ever watched. HOWEVER! the minute there was a timeskip to adulthood, it all went downhill for me. The way they developed the relationship between FL and ML was soo weird. I'm okay with the "childhood brother figure turned love interest" trope but they had zero chemistry once they grew up and it felt so rushed and unnecessary. FL was def only with him because she felt bad for him (She also does acknowledge this and tells him outright but still why???).

I felt so bad for ML, especially when he says he wants to marry her and she keeps invalidating him and saying things like "who wants to marry you" or "who wants to live with you" when he talks about buying a house together. I get that they're trying to portray a realistic trauma-bonded relationship and she's only trying to do what she's always done (protect him and make him happy by appeasing him) but I did nottt f w it. I wish they would've just developed their relationship in a normal way because they definitely had chemistry when they were still in school/living together. However, I do acknowledge that I didn't finish the entire thing (had like 6 episodes left I believe? so maybe they miraculously fix their relationship and FL falls in love with him for real and everyone is happy and healthy forever etc. etc. but I have very little hope for that based off of other reviews I've read.

Also, I hate that they made the second brother have feelings for her too. Their relationship was a million times more sibling-like than FL and ML and it felt so creepy (especially the part where he gropes her like that's so unnecessary??). I think they did it intentionally to show he's confusing platonic love with romantic but it failed imo. Its a 10/10 if you pretend the second half doesn't exist lol.

A MASTERPIECE

I'm not even exaggerating when I say this is one of my favorite dramas I've ever seen. I couldn't stop watching it once I started. Like I was feeling super depressed today and now I'm so happy? I'm cured! this is a miracle you guys

My likes ♡
- Today I realized that I LOVE a "BFF's who love each other and would walk to the end of the earth for each other" trope. Their friendship was soo cute I couldn't stop smiling. The acts of service UGHHH ♡

- Hantae is hilarious and Son Hyun Woo did such a good job omg. He has such a silly personality, the angst didn't even stress me out that much because of the comedic relief he brought to the show. My fav part was when he started dancing in front of the CEO(?) of the music company he was trying to pitch their music to. I've never seen anything with Son Hyun Woo in it but I'm going to look for his other work because he's such a good actor imo, his acting is so natural. Baram is also so adorable and while he was kind of a pushover, it kinda worked for his character and it was necessary for the angst but he ended up showing some character development later on.

- I'm such a sensitive person that I can't watch dramas or anything that has too much angst or if it has a sad ending. I won't finish it because the sadness I get affects me for days lmaoo (I refuse to watch Twenty Five Twenty One). While there was a good amount of angst (misunderstandings galore), it never felt like it was too much or going overboard and there was never a time where I felt like they just added it in out of nowhere just for the sake of having angst.

- The pacing was great imo! I never once felt bored or felt the need to skip through episodes. It also didn't feel rushed despite it only being 8 episodes and I love that they "slowly" (for a BL kdrama lol) developed their relationship from the beginning. By slow, I mean that they didn't just suddenly have one of the characters develop feelings out of nowhere in the second to last episode but then he's in denial for the rest of the episode and most of the final one and then they squeeze all of the affection into the last 2 minutes. They were affectionate with each other from the beginning which I LOVED but also, the last episode was so cute UGH the entire episode was just fluff and happiness. They still had their silly dynamic from when they were just friends and omg their chemistry was insane.

- There were little details that weren't super obvious that were so cute. i.e the cat and dog pillows that represent each other and they both sleep with them in their beds ): and the chore board and the pictures of them from when they met until now... crying

- The friends were also super cute and I loved their dynamic. also this is really random but did anyone else find Jeong Pal's voice super satisfying? Like ASMR lol

- OH also, the song that they kept playing was actually really good! like I added it to my playlist lol.

Dislikes:
- Actually nothing. Like I'm being serious, I can't think of anything lol.

I am most definitely biased because this checked all of my boxes for a drama that I'll love (I love dramas that are 90% fluff and cuteness that aren't going to mentally scar me) and you may think that giving 10 stars is going overboard but I stand by my opinion !!! if you're looking for a drama that's easy to watch and is super cute, you should definitely check this out !!!
