I didn't understand why the camera kept focusing on her micro expressions and that she might be evil, but turns out, she's just super timid because she's an illegitimate daughter. So is makes sense that she doesn't speak what's on her mind as freely as her (legitimate) sisters. She's slowly coming out of her shell and I'm here for it!

It's not confusing because they have different storylines and Against the Current moves at a much slower pace. Spring of the Blade is really fast in comparison, especially the first episode! I feel like it was cut quickly/randomly and the editor was on crack compared to Against the Current, LOL.

I love this type of storytelling where there are many layers. Things you realize when you rewatch. I also love MDL comments like yours - so perceptive!

I totally agree! It was refreshing that many episodes passed and even though the ML and FL were in the same room, the ML never noticed her because - why would he? She is just a maid!

I saw it as him offering the tea to test her. If she drank it then it would be her accepting his request but would also show her eagerness and going above her station (as if they were equals drinking tea together). She replied in such a neutral way and by not touching the tea, she acknowledged that she knew her place. I think it surprised the ML and he was slightly impressed by her.

Totally agree. I was so invested in the 2nd and 3rd couples, even more so than the main couple. The flashbacks were soooo long and unnecessary time fillers.

So sad when Anian died! Both had unrequited love for each other - Anian from the moment he met Zhilli until his death, and then Zhilli realizing she loved him all along only after he died. Ahhhh so annoying! I blame stupid creepy ass Gu Qin for all of this!

Fated Hearts was so amazing! The Double was also one of my favorites so I was excited for this paring but I found myself way more invested (and shed more tears!) for the 2nd and 3rd couple. The main leads didn't have as much chemistry as I thought they would. Time to re-watch Fated Hearts!

Yesss exactly this. I hate his beady eyes and stupid face. I'm so annoyed that she thinks she loves him when she has the sweetest & most loyal guy pining after her.

I totally agree, the time travel twist totally caught me off guard! It was such a smart storyline, I never saw it coming and I loved how it clicked when she started remembering her childhood memories and realized she's in her original body.

I hindsight, this drama wouldn't have been as good if it were super obvious and like you said, time travel and reincarnation can be hard to depict. I like dramas like this where you have to pay attention and rewatch to make sense of the overall intent.

Now that it's over, I miss it!

@LittleFallOfRain - That is so interesting, I never caught on to the animal analogy but it makes a lot of sense! It's a shame that these details weren't as clear in the drama to make some people think it was crappy/lazy writing. It was actually very well thought-out with layers of metaphors. Glad we have MDL to chat with each other and figure out what we actually watched! Haha

I had to deep dive online to find this answer because it wasn't very clear but basically GP loved OG Seori "Dan-Shim" in the past timeline but she only cared/respected him and was not in love with him. When she went back in time, it was only to save Cha Se Gye. She reset the timeline when she blocked the arrow for the GP and they fell over the cliff. That's when she "died", went back to the modern day and the OG Dan-Shim woke up (in her original body) in the river with the GP. I think that's why when we see them in the market scene, they show up together - cause they survived the cliff and were living as fugitives together and probably fall in love in that timeline.

I had to ask chatGPT and when I figured out the whole storyline, it was pretty cool but definitely confusing otherwise!

You have to muddle through the first bit where it's all about her annoying family and then it gets better when the ML comes into the story. I think it was around episode 4 or 5....good luck!!

I was exactly the same! Took me 3 tries over the past year to watch this. I couldn't get past the first few episodes (and the grandmother's constant screaming!) but once I did, I was hooked and now I think I'm a ZLS fan 🙈 😜

Did we ever find out what He Yan wrote in that letter she gave General Li? She told him not to read it until after she left..
