biluo palace was draggy and boring as well for me. i was worried the drama will go downhill from there but it didn’t. unfortunately it was just a slow arc that felt like filler but its becomes essential later on.

it’s not much of a mystery show. more of a martial arts fantasy (eastern and western fantasy blend).

Ppl here are shippers and view other women as threats to their ship. They also hate female villains suggesting they are insects or hookers. They go on and on about protecting female characters then behave like this when it involves an independent female character whose main story is not tied to a man.

Ah, I see. Sorry for sounding harsh. I've just been tired of people coming to this page asking about romance when there hasn't been a true romance plot line. As far as the direction the show is heading, it's mostly Tang Lici's story about facing his past with his senior brothers and confronting Liu Yan. All other characters spend time with him and become closer to him. You can ship anyone you want which is the beauty of having such a charming MC.

As for Ah Shui, her story is not complete as there's been hints she's hiding something. There are people on this page who love TLC x Ah Shui ship and yes they have some beautifully shot scenes together. Recently, there are some pretty scenes with Zhong Chunji as well. There's also a large shipping community for TLC x Liu Yan on XHS and X.

Zhong Chunji's scene in the lake made me tear up. Her life has been so hard and she hasn't been able to feel stable since being abandoned as a kid. I'm so glad she has a loving shifu and friends to rely on now.

what do you mean by “the” romance? this drama is not tagged with romance so there is no romance plotline. there are many ships to choose from however.

She gets about the same amount of screen time as some of the other main roles but I think technically Tang Lici is the only true main role, everyone else is support or antagonists.

I think it's crazy how much people went to bat for the "female character" hate when ppl were saying they find Ah Shui boring but now they are openly insulting Zhong Chunji and it's just crickets.

I get that you are upset that there is another female contender for the love interest position in this non-romance drama but your word are insanely hateful.

We have literally scene Zhong Chunji's nightmare childhood where she was sold off as a child ghost bride then homeless and destitute wandering around in a nearby town where older boys bullied her and adults beat her. Her goal has to become a righteous heroine in the jianghu and we have seen her in the front lines saving people whenever she can. She "values reputation" because the other sword masters constantly pick on her for being from a lower class and she wants to prove that your background does not define who you are.

She is an example of a female character who is fleshed out and has her own motives. She is fighting to make a name for herself and prove that justice is not defined by the wealthy and the powerful. It doesn't matter if she is a love interest in the end or not, she has her own thing going on regardless.
