so true i really loved this overall dynamic of two neglected children finding a home in eachother and the actors are great and had good chemistry, music was touching, there was nothing really getting on my nerves so I could watch it till the end. the success of this drama has nothing to do with the story itself. i wish they will be cast in something else 😩

ya that too, i was eagerly waiting for it to be pulled out as a trump card. why clearly show her hiding it and then her mom mentioning it awhile later if miao jing already destroyed it if they were not gonna use it again in the story? i didn't follow the production of this show but i have a feeling they cut alot to get that distributing licence. they never mentioned alot of details that i felt were important to the show.
on top of my mind — that ledger, tuli meeting cen ye, i can imagine but his traumas in country jin, why chen yi is scraed of electricity, why chen yi fell into debt when wei ming zhen fled teng city, what happened to that case file he hid in the cistern during that fire and also the transition between past to present was weird. it didn't show their time apart correctly. if miao jing didn't come out with a completely different personality, i would probably not feel that 6 years gap.
there are many more but i feel like these are the ones that needed to be addressed.
why did tuli meet cen ye in that one episode and they never addressed it again for the rest of the show? if they cut their follow up scenes, why even keep that one scene? am i missing something or it makes no sense at all? seriously this drama is missing a lot of details
i am a bit confused with the geographical situation of this show. are teng city, hai city and lingang in china? i remember seeing something about hong kong at the start of the show, what was that about? and what country is this country jin that they are talking about? 😵💫
the one good thing that came out of this drama is we have finally have an emperor male lead that isn't a puppet. i am actually quite surprised that there are very few with this setting and if we cut out the puppet emperors there is even less. chinese production houses have a tendency to pick out scripts that have similarities to the popular ones and although i doubt this made any groundbreaking impact among gp, i really hope they will start producing more dramas with emperor x empress leads 🙏🏽 I recently saw a melon for wulei and churan for something similar i hope it's true 🥹
they really ruined it all. her past was already well established. she suffered at the hands of villians and a crown prince saved her, showed her the right path and helped her find her ambitions. she walked that path, entered his court and eventually became his empress and they happily ruled their kingdom together. we could have had all that. WHY IN THE FUCKING HELL DID THEY HAVE TO RE-ESTABLISH HER PAST AND MAKE IT ALL A MESS???? seriously i am so fucking mad
idk i feel like everything went off the track starting from that continuous rain situation. pushed myself to watch a few more to see if it improves because i really wanted to see it to the end but this isn't getting better.
