I have been watching BL dramas since 2018’s Love By Chance, and in all these years, I have never really disliked a second couple. Sometimes, I even liked them more than the main. But this drama completely broke that streak. This is the first time I absolutely detested a second couple. I have never fast-forwarded through a second couple so quickly.
The little brother and Qin Lang are the absolute epitome of hedonists.
The little brother literally hid Lu Feng's final message, before he was forcefully taken to the US, leaving Yichen to believe he had been abandoned by Lu Feng. This brat was out here living his best, carefree life, while rubbing his relationship in front of his brother’s face around their mom by hiding behind the "just friends" label, a privilege Yichen never had. Yichen is the one who absorbed all the trauma and went through a loveless marriage and divorce , while the little brother is off to live a happy life with his lover in some foreign country.
Then after so much suffering both LuFeng and Yicheng went through, this brat even have the absolute audacity to take Yichen away, totally uncaring to what his older brother truly wants. Qin Lang is just a catalyst to his toxic and childish behaviour. It was incredibly gross and self-centered of them both.
Did they even paused to look at what Yichen did all these miserable years, so they have a comfortable love life? They are both pure trash, completely blind to their own privilege, and they seriously deserved some brutal poetic justice to come to their senses.
See I am no psychiatrist or psychologist. I could be very wrong too. Here is my interpretation- Lu Feng seems to suffer from depression and severe mood swings due to mild case of bipolar disorder and severe abandonment issues. That is clearly visible in his sudden outbursts, erratic behaviour and lack of sleep. I dont think his mental illness is being used to justify his past toxic behavior. Because I don't think depression and bipolar disorder doesnt automatically makes someone do toxic stuffs. The doctor also noted that he suffered from those symptoms to some extent in past in absense of Yicheng. And it got to a very extreme point by ep 12 where he needed hospitalization. That is a totally realistic scenerio though, just imagine long he suffered.
Ep 12 felt like more of an epilogue to me about the characters navigating hardships in their relationship and they proved to be resilient. We already got the happy ending in ep 11.
Mann I am literally going insane over the last scene of ep 11. Help! The scene where Lu Feng pulled Yicheng to carry him bridal style! That is so fucking old Bollywood romance inspired! The sheer amount of SRK love scenes flashed before my eyes from different hindi movie which I've been watching since childhood! Damnn!
This episode really shows why some young people choose to stay away from their selfish and traditional minded family- Those kinda that makes young people uncomfortable by bringing up the topic of filial duties, when they clearly shows no interest in it. And this mother is hella manipulative, I felt zero empathy for a pathetic and selfish person like this. Woah those crocodile tears flowing as she brought up how much money the saved to guilt trip Yichen. But I guess Yichen is not equipped enough to sense manipulation. He is swayed too easily. Does she ever consider what Yichen really wants? Absolutely no.
Lu Feng is unhinged but atleast he is honest. He deserves much better than this kind of fake promises from someone's who can't keep their words.
This episode made me go full Brian Kinney mode urgh.. But it was fun as hell to watch.
Damn what was that?? Ep 2 really teared me up.. They were basically two kids.. What a loss of innocence.. No wonder bro became a villain.. I understand where he is coming from now.. A solid villain origin story..
I know this is indeed a toxic concept, but at the same time I find it quite daring because it explores the darkest sides of human nature, where ones does whatever it takes to get what they want. It is like exploring what made someone such a ruthless villain. A love story where a seperation turned into a dangerous obsession. Yeahh it is not pretty or romantic but it is pretty psychological and deeply human as well. Light watcher should stay away from this.
Got Emi — She is aesthetic looking though (saw her in Burnout Syndrome), but problem is I'm not really into girls in that way.. I wanna retake this but cannot so I accepted my faith haha 🤣🤣
Casually click on the trailer of this drama. It unexpectedly ruined every tiny bit of my remaining innocence.... as I initially thought it was just going to be some cute college romance with a misunderstood male lead. But nope.... it crumpled my heart like a piece of paper and tossed it straight into a burning fireplace. The trailer alone is a full-on emotional rollercoaster!
I’m beyond excited for this drama. It’s already my top priority watchlist of 2026!
I used to think “Second Male Lead Syndrome” was something exaggerated in K-drama fandom (I’m not really into romance K-dramas). I always wondered why people were being so dramatic over a character.
Then I met Pheem.
Now I get it.
To everyone whose second lead heartbreaks I secretly judged before — my sincerest apologies to y'all.
Props to the writers of this series.
This drama left me emotionally compromised with Second Male Lead Syndrome for the very first time.
(Although I clearly knew who is likely to be endgame from the first episode, but it was something about Pheem and the psychological aspect of this drama that kept me hooked to it)
I like both. I loved TNP and their latest concert, except for the comedy bit in the middle with the fat woman,…
Totally agree! I think even in acting Nunew shines more, I have seen two episodes of Zomvivor recently. Also I think I prefer Zee with his Why r u era haircut, the current one doesn't suit him, as it covers his eyes more.
