My first review i'm writing for any drama! Wow this show really hooked me in from the beginning. I really enjoyed the mindgames at play and the hidden intentions between our two main protagonists. It was interesting learning their motivations and trying to determine what were truly their genuine feelings. It made for an emotional rollercoaster of a first half after seeing Ji Bozai's tragic past and his true feelings for Ming Yi not being reciprocated. I was frustrated by how she repeatedly continued to lie about how she felt after he had poured his trust into her. As someone who heavily shipped them it hurt to see LOL. All in the meanwhile i unexpectedly grew to love our side characters. 27 and Buxiu's dedication to their masters, and later on Tianji- Yan Xiao's broken trust slowly being repaired and budding into a relationship I was rooting for. I was pleasantly surprised by the plot twists that were introduced with our protagonists true identities, and their pasts being revealed. There were some similarities there with the story in Apothecary Diaries (top two anime for me atm) and I was really happy about that. Eventually I got the payoff I wanted with both our protagonists confessing their true feelings and swearing to be honest with each other going forward. I love the idea of forgiveness/honesty and being able to face your true feelings and be vulnerable. This show had me thoroughly happy with basically every aspect in the rating metric. Definitely a show I feel like will be one of my favorite cdramas until proven otherwise. Was this review helpful to you?
