Both shows explore themes of growth, family, youth and romance!! The start of Always Home especially reminds me of Reply 1988 because of their neighborhood dynamics.
Both involve a sort of "forbidden love" and also have a very tragic romance plot, although Youth of May conveyed it more (personal opinion).
Both shows are historical and have a very genuine romance between the main leads. They both involve tragedies as well (ex. war for Mr. Sunshine).
