I think Hyuk joon began to consider other options not only because the other girls showed interest, but it was…
i can definitely see that! i guess that misunderstanding tainted that rose-tinted image of hyun seo. i'm really curious to see how he gets along with the other girls, he seems to be popular :D
i can't help but feel irritated with most of the men's lack of social etiquette...besides jinwoo and hyuk joon, who seem fine.
i do think hyuk-joon made the mistake of lovebombing hyun seo...it's great for him to explore his options, but him doing so only after other girls showed interest is a bit...
as for hyun seo, i can understand why she didn't initally tell the truth about the gift, but she should've been honest when given the chance.
i still have hope for hyuk hoon and hyun seo, but in the end i think he will find interest elsewhere.
however, i have two complaints. 1. the pacing was awkward, sometimes dragging then rushing at the wrong moments — specifically in the second half. and 2. the ‘revenge’ never actually happens and instead we’re given an underwhelming reveal. (not to say it was not good. it was heartbreaking.)
anyway, as i mentioned there is really no revenge, therefore i feel that the heart of this movie is more so the resentment and remorse over simultaneously caring for your loved ones and treating them as a burden. this is depicted in the mc’s relationship with his special needs twin brother. even though we see them interact in brief flashbacks, those were enough to show the mc’s poor treatment towards his brother while still providing for him. in the end he was too neglectful. he chooses to go to prison to avenge his brother — but i think it was more for him to rid himself of his guilt.
ultimately, i think this movie should not be regarded as a revenge flick. the sibling relationship was depressing to watch (compliment). also, it brings awareness male sexual abuse, particularly in prisons and towards vulnerable individuals. the performances were great and i applaud jinyoung for playing both roles so well.
seriously can't wait to rewatch this on netflix omg this drama got me through the end of my last semester and helped me get out of my bl slump. even though this series is not original by any means, it has created an engaging world of characters that you cannot help but love...it's cringe and cute in the best way and shows love so honestly. the chemistry between not just duang and qin, but also between duang and his friends, was amazing! i'm definitely rooting for teeteepor in every upcoming project and event, thank you for bringing duang and qin to life 🐶🐻❄️
the actors have great chemistry and deliver both resolved and unresolved tension exceptionally. the plot is interesting enough and also way more risque than your typical kbl. but i will complain about the short runtime and the usage of ai. the ai in the intro and brief scenes is a turn-off and unnecessary for lower budget dramas. also, when will kbls ditch the non- and dub-con? it really ruins intimate scenes. anyway, this drama is good if you're into crime, high tension, and an enemies to lovers dynamic.
I’m writing this as I wait for season two...I am beyond excited to see these maximalists back on my screen (AND with two new gelboys :D).
This drama really stuck with me, largely due to the refreshing dynamics we don't often see in Thai BL, with fixed pairs and all. Also, nail art being the bridge between the four boys was such a creative choice. It's cool to see the how the aesthetic is built around it.
One thing I unexpectedly enjoyed was the way Gelboys constantly reminds you it's Gen Z. It takes advantage of the major role technology and social media has in our lives and relationships, and shows the weight a simple message, video, or story view has on a modern teens psyche. It does all this with great accuracy. Never does it feel overdone or a parody. I literally feel like I'm watching something from my own high school days play out LOL.
And of course, you can’t talk about Gelboys without mentioning how visually pleasing it is. The cinematography and artistic direction nail the Pinterest-esque aesthetic…just so beautiful and memorable.
I will be tuning in on August 8th to see all the new drama these boys have to stress me out❤️🩹
Because now the sequences got mixed up. It's not following the manhwa's sequence anymore. They also add unnecessary…
ah no wonder. i haven't read the manhwa but i think the best thing would've been to follow the original sequence...it's a shame. also, what are some unnecessary scenes they've added??
the first couple of episodes were promising, then i felt the story get really stuck in the recent episode (six) and with only four episodes left i’m worried how it will wrap up. the actors still do a great job though. overall it’s an okay drama, just don’t expect much from the revenge plot or the action/crime aspect of it.
