It really comes down to Channel 3 being completely hit-or-miss. They have hit some out of the park with great pairings and strong direction, but the writing isn't there in most of their shows.

I'm going to ramble, but may give you some useful tidbits to consider.

The three sentence plot of Only You was mostly good (though many plot points were lame), but the writing and directing were awful. It made money because two pretty girls kissed. GL attracts just as many (probably a lot more) straight men watching as lesbians. Men just see corn, so judging the industry by money is short-sighted. Which I think is the problem at ch3; it made money, so "it must have been good enough," and that follows to other production houses to some degree. The other side of it is that in a world where there is so little lesbian content, many people have very low thresholds for what they consider good.

There is a seemingly never-ending list of absolute trash content that manages to “unbelievable numbers and locked in major bags.” Equating this to the quality of the product is nonsense.

I've joked (but kinda true) that the east is speed-running all the worst tropes in sapphic content that the west already went through. It's only been 4 years since GAP broke the mold in Thai GL and gave us a happy ending. I could write a thesis on all the problems with that story, but the money behind it just saw the money and hit repeat, with the results visible in cringe-worthy shows like Blank, because they followed one very problematic author at first.

On the flip side, we have things like US and The Loyal Pin which hit it out of the park. US is by the same author as GAP and Bank, but the screenwriters took a lot of liberties with the script and really made something special out of the disaster of a book. Similarly, we have My Safe Zone, which is objectively a boring script, but Lena Miu and the director still managed to make a great show from it.

Don't make too much of the other comments. Some people confuse platform account stats with real-life experience and knowledge. I haven't been on MDL very long, but I've been watching and reading WLW content longer than half the users on this platform have been alive, and I’m also a lesbian.

The Thai GL industry is young, and that is part of it, and some of these production houses are just in it for the cash grab, and yes, sexism is alive and well in just about every industry.

In the end, we won’t get better content unless we demand it. So, call out bad writing, bad direction, problematic tropes, and all the other flaws. LingOrm and so many others deserve better than this.

If you're just saying "look these other stories did it" that doesn't counter my point. There are probably more storylines with similar scenes.

I never said the entire story was stolen. The final scene is nearly identical in the ways that matter. One dying the mandatory death of being born human, the other choosing death. Different enough to avoid a legal claim, but still the same.

If anything, the difference in context highlights the theft. In Bicentennial Man the point of his death isn't to die with her as some statement about their love (though it does make one), it was the inevitable conclusion of his epic his journey to be recognized as a person. While Ai became more human over the course of the series, that was only a sub plot at most. The plot of AI Girl is love against all odds that nobody else understands (literally what it is to be queer.) The only thing the death scene does, other than wrenching our hearts out, is to cement the idea that their love lasted, which they could have done in hundreds, if not thousands of ways.

Sorry for retraumatizing you.

That final scene is basically stolen from Bicentennial Man.

I did not need or want that last scene. First of all it was heart wrenching. Yes we know their love lasted, but it still hurt. And that is before considering that it was super lazy to steal the final scene from Bicentennial Man. (and, no I didn't like it either)

It's hard to expect anything more from CH3.

And the train wreck continues, but at least Runch seems to have decided who to keep. and is seeing her mother for who she is. She needs to fire the looser Utt, though.

Some people just don't get science fiction. Or facts for that matter, we have people actually falling for Chat GPT larping as a their girl friend. NGL I didn't even finish Broken of Love. I just couldn't connect with the characters.

Same. My wife was looking at me, like "Girl, are you OK?"

That reveal was unexpected.

woof ep 6 was tough. I fully expect Ai to be OK, but that was hard to watch. Poor Gen.

If Ling is good in one show and not in another, I don't think that is her acting so much as the directing.

Yup, remove her mom and there is no plot.

That's going to depend on what you like to watch. If you stan anything LingOrm, then sure. If you enjoy repetitive train-wrecks, this is for you. If good writing, plots, and direction matter, then you probably won't enjoy it. Personally I'm just watching to see if it can possibly get worse.

Change dropped the ball on this one. The plot had potential, all three couples had potential. There were plenty of cute moments. The end was terrible. Terrible writing. Terrible directing. I was looking forward to mean granny finding out song was royalty, and I wish I could say the scene fell on its face, but it would have needed to stand up in order to fall.

At this point I think I'm hate-watching this. It's groundhog's day and we get to see what new insanity Ranch's mom has cooked up.

I predict that I will be once again disappointed by the forgiveness of a toxic parent without them doing enough to deserve it. It's such lazy writing and frankly typical of CH3. LingOrm deserve better material than this. On the bright side, Runch may have finally figured out where she left her spine.

We all need to hear Runch say, "Mom, if you make me choose between my wife and you, you will not like my answer."
