it was SO refreshing to watch zhi tao put luan nian in his place while they were in the car. i actually think that fight was very good for them, because they were honest and vulnerable even while their voices were raised. it ended on a good note, too, with luan nuan admitting he missed her and the camera showing zhi tao’s smile. they fought like an actual couple, with her asking him not to misunderstand her friendship with the roommate and him saying he’ll try his best.
so now... i wonder how the show will handle the major breakup - what could be so agonizingly terrible that the only option she saw fit was leave him without a single word?
They are both red flags. No question there.Flora is insecure, afraid to voice out her love as she already feels…
Different love languages indeed! They’re aware of what they have to do but default to their usual ways anyway. Exhibit A: Zhi Tao wants Luan Nian to speak kindly (words of affirmation). Does he do that? Sometimes. Does he still run his mouth and say the most callous remarks? Yes. Exhibit B: Luan Nuan wants Zhi Tao confide in him when things get tough. Does she fail at this? Yes, more than once. Is it understandable that she did? Also yes.
I think what makes this relationship so interesting is you could see where both of them are coming from. You could see that what they have is real, and just how good it could really be if they just trusted each other more. They need a little less of “How did he/she make me feel?” and a little more of “How did I make him/her feel?” (Though I would say, he asks the latter more than she does.)
I really don't get this thing about everyone calling the leads Red Flags. Having poor communication skills or…
Quick Google search led me to the below article, with this highlighted section: "Red flags are warning signs that indicate unhealthy or manipulative behavior.” One red flag example given is: Lack of desire to communicate openly.
P.S. The author of the article is this (copy-pasted from the link): "Shelley Lewin is a personal and professional relationship development specialist on a mission to elevate the quality of all relationships—both at home and in the workplace."
I think what happened in this episode regarding the conversation about marriage was the first major turning point…
It’s so sad, too, because Luan Nian wasn’t really saying, “No, I don’t see a future with you.” Instead, he was saying this: “I don’t feel enough reassurance about your feelings for me and about my place in your life.” And this is evidenced by how he listed his insecurities related to her that seemed to just pile up, aka his perception of the ff.: the matchmaking event; her one-on-one dinner with her ex-boyfriend; and even her date-like dog-walk with her roommate, someone she sleeps under the same ceiling with.
But of course, that’s not what Zhi Tao heard. To her, it’s as simple as “he doesn’t want a future with her.” It’s another case of them misunderstanding each other, and it’s painful because you could see both of them getting hurt by it.
I really, really need the breakup to allow them to grow up as individuals and be better versions of themselves.
Thank god I saw this comment bc I swear this other forum I came across just kept dogpiling on the ML without acknowledging…
Yes to all of this! He’s been hard-carrying the relationship the whole time, and I understand that the FL was hesitant about it while they were still starting out because of the sheer power imbalance and yadda yadda yadda, but it’s been four years and she’s moved up the ladder and established her position in the company! And yes, how hard is it to schedule a meeting with the ML and her friends to formally introduce him as her boyfriend? If that had already happened, imagine the reassurance he’d have when he saw the FL and the guy roommate walking the dog together. Part of why he’s so jealous to begin with is because she’s so hesitant to integrate him into her life!
The ML is a petty idiot who needs to learn how to shut up, yes, but the FL needs to act like an actual girlfriend, too. Their relationship is driving us insane LMAO

They’re both so good at hurting each other! Like at the start of Ep 18, Flora couldn’t have said, “I know how this looks like, I’m sorry, I promise you that what you’re thinking didn’t happen”??? Sure, she said it’s agency-operated and that she never logged in, but where’s the knee-jerk empathy for your boyfriend who very understandably assumed the worst and is asking you about it to your face? To make things worse, before she could process the conversation more thoroughly, this guy then decides to be a petty idiot and TEXTS her a scathing/snide remark just as he drives away. Ugh, it’s frustrating me again LOL
FL right after hugging her ex and not telling about the haressment ask ML if he wants to get married and start…
“She hides everything from him and he cannot use his words properly.”
This is it. This right here. You summed up - so perfectly! - the core problem of their relationship. He’s almost always the last to know; she keeps getting slapped by his words. They’re so bad at communicating and so good at hurting each other.
Hopefully, their time apart will help them grow up.
I thought maybe Luan nian was problematic. I am totally wrong, they are both insane. My mom always say one thing…
In the first few episodes, I was like: girlll you’re too good for this avoidant prick. But 18 episodes in, and I agree with you - they’re both so bad at communicating. They have the same problem, really, just manifesting in different ways. They really do need to break up and grow up while they’re apart.
I'm sorry, but the FL is basically a big red flashing neon sign in this episode. She just got caught on a dating…
Thank god I saw this comment bc I swear this other forum I came across just kept dogpiling on the ML without acknowledging how much of a red flag the FL is being, too. They’re both very flawed and terrible at communicating.
One of the best C-dramas I’ve watched, ever. Highly recommend to all drama lovers.
This show raised my standards for love. If I can’t have love as genuine, tender, timeless, patient and unconditional as Sang Yan’s, then I won’t have it at all.
