According to the original script she is supposed to fall in love with Nan Heng. She wakes up refusing to marry him so she dies, then the script decides to pull her back 6 months to get her to fall in love with him. That didn’t work so the script created this zoro character to make her fall in love with the ML.

Ok another theory of mine.
