for me, yes. but i think it depends on the one who's reading cuz it's kind of bittersweet that they had to have separate lives in the end and move out of their area. well.. typical youth era things yk.
I've read the novel and I can say that it's really well written and I'm positive that it's great, beyond great actually. However, we know that not all scenarios in the novel would be adapted into the series. Still, I'm hoping that it would be done well by them since it tackles about a pretty sensitive topic, and not only that, it also has a lotttt of plots in the novel which makes it better.

17th Spring is a story that follows Marn, a 17-year-old boy living with HIV carrying both grief and strength as he enters a new chapter of his life. After the death of his grandmother, Marn is left alone with no one to look after him, still holding onto her final wish for him to experience a normal life and have friends. Unexpectedly, his uncle whom he didn't even knew existed came to pick him up and take care of him. Despite living with HIV, Marn transfers to a new school. There, he meets his four new friends—Than, Hem, Ying, and Ryu. Than however, was cold and distant with Marn despite being neighbors. He was once an excellent swimmer like both of his siblings, but due to an accident that happened between Than and his brother Nathi, he began to face guilt. Than stopped swimming at all and built walls along the people around him. While Than refuses to have connection with anyone, Marn continues to approach him with persistence and kindness.
As their lives start to intertwine in school, the story expands and then include the experiences of the side characters who each represents different emotional struggles. Karn was once a little boy like Marn, who's wanting to explore his teenage life. He once had a boyfriend and started to take ballet lessons, however, his mother found out that he's gay and opposed to the idea of his son dancing to ballet which then lead to Karn being abandoned by his mom. Nathi, Than's brother, was avoided by him the most. He was once a swimmer, but amongst all three of the siblings he was the one with the most bright future. Nathi is a national representative of Thailand in swimming, but all of his hardwork will be swept away by fate with just one accident. He slipped in the swimming pool while following Than after a fight between their father and his brother that lead to his muscles being torn. From then on, not only his dream was crushed, but their family as well.
Ying, on the other hand, received judgement from the people around her. She was not a typical girl that anyone might think of—boy-cut hair, boy mannerisms, doesn't do makeup, and loves to wear baggy clothes. She was pushed on to thinking that no one would admire her because of these traits and pushed to change herself because of the society—but she never did because someone loved her for who she is and not for who the society wanted her to be.
Ryu was forced to pursue a profession that he's not even passionate of—worked his butt off from day to night from studying and tutoring lessons without even enjoying the fun of being a teenager. He wanted to be an artist, yet he still tried to please his father off by obeying what he wanted; however, his father thinks that he's not doing enough. This happened to push Ryu to his limits and attempted to end his own life. Hem received judgement from people as well. Everyone told him that he could not go far, that being an actor as a kid living in the countryside is far from impossible.
I don't know how to explain it further, but all I could say is that ever since Marn came in their area, they slowly solved their problems in life. So I hope that they would still incorporate these into the story cuz for me, showing that the arrival of Marn in their lives has made them resolve their life problems is just sooo great like it's not just a bl drama but it's a literal youth drama that would make you cry I SWEAR.
