I'm so glad I watched this one without reading any reviews beforehand. It was really worth it. The plot was interesting enough, it had many layers and not just the conflict between the main couple. Of course it had some unbelievable details but it's a drama and it's okay. Now I see most of the complaints are about how Heejoo's deception was revealed too early, but it's one of the things I liked most. I'm done with overly dragged misunderstanding plots.
Really enjoyable watch. Light-hearted comedy/drama. What's really great about it is the fact that once an issue crops up it's dealt with swiftly in no more than two episodes. No omnipotent villain that overshadows the entirety of the show. And the protagonists are no Mary Sue choosing to endure hardships for no reason. My favorite character was definitely the mother. Her easy-going and flighty character is something I've never seen in period C-drama land.
I was talking about dubbing in general. Since I am not a native speaker and am not involved in the production I can't speculate on the reasons for dubbing a particular actor. Was just sharing an information I got from a Chinese YouTuber since it was helpful for me to understand the point of dubbing.
Someone explained that the reason they use dubbing is because actors speak in different dialects. For historical, fantasy and other genres it's better to have a certain formal enunciation. They tend to use original voices in some modern drama.
I really wanted to love this drama, and I did at first... Then I started seeing a pattern. The female lead was supposed to be this wise independent woman, but she just turned out to be delusional about her own power and has poor decision-making skills. She just keeps making these "smart" plans that undoubtedly put her and her friends into serious trouble. And after suffering physical and emotional repercussions, she just goes on to making another dumb plan. It's as if she just can't have a normal life where she doesn't mess with people who are more powerful than her. I dropped it around EP 18.
Short but very well done story. Didn't drag or get boring . As for the production, it was surprisingly good, one couldn't guess it was low budget at all. An enjoyable quick watch.
Only watched the main couple story and I rated 9 according to that and not the whole series. Amazing chemistry between them. The lead actress just makes any pairing seem believable, no washboard acting from her.
HIS EYES!!! OMG can those eyes tell a story. I'm not talking about looks, after watching many drama/movies you realize how rare it is to find such expressive acting. The story is just so so sweet and I liked that we got a different type of male lead. Healthy relationships of love, family, and friendship. Will definitely rewatch.
There is lack of communication and then there is complete lack of verbal interaction. I have finally managed to finish it after 4 years. It gets better after they get married. But it was still such a dull series, where was the sunshine? And introducing Tan Kai made me root less for the ML. The FL was an actual human being with him while she turned into a doormat with ML. By the end you just thinking these two are gonna live a long and boring life together.
For once a strong female lead who is actually strong. This one doesn't take any bs, never letting herself be bullied and actually says what needs to be said.
Dropped. The game scenes are just too much. I could understand chatting while gaming, but dreaming about your character hugging his character and having romantic moments is OTT. I watched it for Xu Lu but then I realized they should have casted an idol for this role, it's painfully awkward to see some actors try to pull off the singer/performer act. The ML comes through as a small boy instead of a uni student, so I was not anticipating their romance at all.
Such an underrated gem! When a drama had 30ep I tend to do lots of skipping. I actually binge watched this whole drama with no skips 🤭 there were no unnecessary plot lines and the story keeps u hooked. Every side character was relevant to the overall story. The main leads were just perfect, and greatly performed by the actors.
Disappointing. With such a cast I kept hoping that the writing will improve along the way. But nope. You could literally see BL and DW act, they tried so hard to pull this off with their acting but it couldn't be done without a good character design and plot. As someone said, just watch FMVs.
