Totally underrated must watch

I don't usually rate the re-watch value so high because even if I love dramas I find it hard to re-watch them once you know everything that's going to happen but this drama for some reason just has this aura about it that I could honestly re-watch it all again after only just finishing it and I would still love it. It is such an underrated drama and I really love it. The two main actors seem to have really good chemistry and it comes across in the characters. I think all their scenes are really powerful whether it be a serious scene, funny scene or cute scene. If you want a drama that has a strong but basic story line and good romance between the main couple then this is the show for you. Also if you like the fun and witty side characters, particularly men then there are the King's 2 friends that will have you smiling all the way through.

I really like this drama. I can understand why people would easily get bored of the humour in it, but I found it very funny. I've noticed that a lot of people have said that you should only watch this show for the humour and to not take it seriously but I disagree. I mean it is a comedy and most of the scenes are not to be taken seriously, it's funny and light-hearted but the storyline itself and certain moments of the drama are actually very sweet and touching and not to be taken so light-heartedly.

I think the acting is actually really good, it's not easy to play such a comedic role but they all do it really well.

The music is super catchy and I really loved it.

Beautiful

Honestly I could spend hours talking about this drama but there is one word that sums it up perfectly and that is BEAUTIFUL. The whole story right from beginning to end is so beautiful and magical. There are only a very small handful of dramas that exist in the world that have that element of true magic and beauty and this is one of them. From the three main characters stories to the patients in the hospital, all their stories touched me to the point I shed both sad and happy tears for each of them.

As for the cast, well they couldn't have got better actors if they tried. The three main leads absolutely smashed it and made the characters what they were. I think it is incredibly hard to create a masterpiece unless the actors are spot on and make the character themselves which is exactly what they did. As for the the side characters in the hospital, both staff and patients well they were insane and they portrayed the roles as if they were actually them characters.

It is very easy to make the main characters come across as superior and take the centre stage constantly even when the focus is on another characters story but I think they balanced it out well. Yes, the story is obviously about the three main characters and their journey and development together so the focus is on them but when the story is about other characters too, IOTNBO perfectly balances it. And the final story that Moon Young wrote proves that. It included the story of the two patients that they helped move on and live a better life and honestly when they read out the story I shed a few happy tears because they were saying that without these people that they helped then they wouldn't have been able to help themselves either and it's true. I just loved that they brought in the other characters at the end and showed that by helping others you really can help yourself too.

The music and intro is so good. I could never skip the intro and when the music came in at certain points and just fit the scenes perfectly, honestly it added so much more depth to the story and acting (which was already amazing). They used several different songs repeatedly but it didn't feel like they were being overplayed or used at the wrong points, they were placed accordingly and it worked that way.

The re-watch value has to be a 10 because of how amazing it is. I just can't explain how much emotion this drama gave me. I felt for each and every character in many different ways and although I myself have struggled with mental health it still opened my eyes up to the different forms it comes in and how it can affect many different people in many different ways. I just found the story so touching and it was done so cleverly and thoughtfully that I think I could watch this drama over and over again and would still get all the depth and emotion ever time. Many dramas fail to do that even if they're amazing. Dramas tend to give you the feelings and excitement etc. the first time and you might want to re-watch it again but the next time might not excite you as much, especially if you watch it quite soon after. IOTNBO is the opposite, no matter how many times you watch it, every plot and every character still will make you feel something and probably something new each time on top of that too.

Obviously credit goes to all the cast because they pulled off a phenomenal show due to their insane acting skills and the three main cast made it what it is but I also want to credit some of the support actors. Specifically, Kwak Dong Yeon who played the patient Kwon Gi Do and also Kang Ji Doong who played Gang Tae's friend/ older brother Jo Jae Soo. That's not to say that I don't find every single character and actor amazing because I think the characters and cast couldn't have been better if they tried. It's just that I think these characters really touched my heart. The patient who's father thought he was so dumb that he didn't deserve to be his son and he beat him, locked him up etc. and then his mum loved him so much that to protect him she tried to keep him away from the family and pretend that she was disappointed and didn't love him. He saw through it though and actually he felt so much better after being able to speak openly about how he was treated, I just thought he deserved so much love and attention and the actor pulled it off perfectly. He deserves so much recognition for that role. Then there's the friend who was always there for the two brothers, looked after them, listened to them, protected them etc. and in return he always had to move around and never settle and he felt that he was only being given half of what he was giving them. Despite all he felt he still stuck by them and loved them endlessly like a brother would and the final episode where Gang Tae told him that without him, he wouldn't have been able to cope half as much as he did and that he needed him in his life, it felt like all this pain he'd felt that time had been eased and he realised that although Gang Tae never said how much he valued him, he valued him so much that words couldn't explain it. I just think that his character is amazing and once again it isn't an easy role to act so I just think that the actor did an incredible job.

I have so much more to say but honestly no time to and it'll go on forever so I think for now I have said enough

I didn't really know what to expect from this drama and I was really surprised. The trailer is good but it doesn't give you much to make you think 'wow I really want to watch this.' However, it really didn't take long for me to really get into it. The main couple have sweet moments all the way through but it also shows the reality of a relationship of any kind and how others can really impact on it in different ways (jealousy, friendship, crushes, etc.). I like the main couple but actually the reason I rated it so highly and loved the drama so much is because of the side main characters. I absolutely love the developing relationship between King and Ram and the relationship between Mek and Boss. I cannot wait until next year when season 2 comes out because I want to see where all their relationships will go. Although this drama actually doesn't have too much proper intense drama, it has a lot of genuinely sweet moments and moments that will make you laugh so if you want a sweet and funny BL drama then this will 100% satisfy you.

Really pleasantly surprised

I actually stopped watching this after a few minutes of episode 1 because I thought the first few minutes were too comedic and it felt a bit strange for the beginning of the drama. However, I gave it another go and actually once you get through the first half of the 1st episode it gets better and better. I didn't have high hopes but the two main characters are actually really cute together and I find the lead male quite handsome and he's good at acting too. The side characters were fun too so generally this programme is quite a lot of fun and their adorable together. I feel this drama is underrated but I would recommend it as a cute and fun historical drama.

I absolutely adored this drama. It is incredibly rare to find dramas where the main character is considered evil and I just find it really fascinating to watch the story unfold. There's your usual love triangle but it has a bit of an added part to it which I won't say but I loved the idea of it. The support roles are played amazingly well and there isn't a single character that I particularly disliked because of bad acting. I personally think the second male lead character is portrayed as sort of a hero but I didn't particularly like him, I thought he was actually more harsh than the 'evil' main lead.

The music for me is mixed. I absolutely love the song for the credits and the songs that play throughout the drama but I really don't like the main beginning OST. I just think if it's a Chinese historical drama then it needs music that fits with it and the OST is very upbeat and modern, basically pop. For a modern drama it would be fine but in my opinion this one just doesn't work for the type of drama.

Now as for the acting I thought that occasionally it was a bit rigid and expressionless but I don't think it was the actors, maybe it was just the way the characters were meant to feel since it was either a dramatic or sad scene. And I absolutely adore the main male lead both actor and character. If you want to find a drama where the male cast are somehow prettier than the female cast then this is the drama. I actually think all the main characters are pretty but I have never seen someone look quite so pretty and elegant in all my life like I did when I watched this and saw Li Hong Yi as Qiu Yue. Honestly it may just be me but thinking of both boys and girls, I am in awe of how beautiful he looks when playing this role. He is naturally quite a handsome and pretty man but he hit a whole new level just by adding a long, straight wig, a hair pin and a little bit of smokey sparkly eye shadow.

But anyway, to sum up I think this drama is on the whole stunning and I just can't get enough of Qui Yue so I certainly will be watching it again soon. I just find his character is so elegant, meticulous and actually quite sweet when he wants to be. I don't know how to explain it but if you watch it you'll know exactly what I mean.

Amazing

This drama honestly touches the heart so much. I loved every second of it and I highly recommend it. The acting is incredibly good and I started watching it because of Singto and the fact it was a BL but actually the other characters are really good because of the actors that portray them. I have definitely found new actors to follow. The story line itself is also really good and i really enjoyed watching it unfold, their are a few surprises that I really didn't expect as well. For fans of any of these actors, you really won't be let down. I just wish there was a 2nd series, it's that good.

Mixed. Amazing but the last chapter hit me both good and bad.

I'm not really sure where to start with this drama. I started watching it because it had Tay in it and I saw it also had a lot of other GMMTV actors that i'd seen in other things. Although I watched it because of Tay I ended up loving all the characters because the actors are all so talented. They portrayed the roles so perfectly and you could see how hard they worked.
The story line is very unique, especially since it's something that isn't seen as normal. Most people consider relationships to be between 2 people but this shows that love doesn't have boundaries and if you love someone then you should do what makes you happy and live your life as you want it and they want it not the way society thinks is best and considered 'normal'.
I found the music incredibly catchy and that's why I rated it so highly. Usually I find myself skipping the introduction parts because they take too long and the music gets repetitive but this time the music really made me want to watch the introduction. Saying that, I also found that the introduction was actually really effective and every time a new episode came on I would watch it just to hear the music and see the well edited cast credits come up.
As for the re-watch value I think it is a drama that would kind of hard to re-watch purely because the point of it is to be dramatic and leave you in suspense all the time. It's hard to be in suspense and wonder what is going to happen when you know exactly that already from watching it before. I rated it a 7 because it is an amazing drama but because of that reason you wouldn't want to watch it more than once a year or even 2+.
Since I rated everything else so highly it is probably a surprise to see that i only rated it a 7 overall. I have two main reasons.
Reason 1. I was really disappointed with Tur's ending. I wanted him to live a happy life and be free from all the pain and cruelty he went through. I know he chose that job voluntarily and I know he didn't seem to care about what he was doing and who he was hurting but you can see that actually he did want to have a change of life and thinking he was going to start all over again with the woman he was clearly starting to have feelings for, if not already loved made him so incredibly happy. I just wanted them both to finally have a chance to move on and be happy but it was taken away from them and it really broke my heart. For that reason I just felt a bit let down with the ending.
Reason 2. I felt really unclear about the three main characters futures. It was clear that Shin took over the family mafia business like he promised his father although who knows what he actually did with it in the end. And it's clear they set up a beach side bar and hostel type thing like Neo said he wanted to. It's also clear that Neo loves both Shin and Miw but it's unclear to me whether Shin and Miw love each other like Neo loves them or whether it's a love that can't be explained in that sort of way. A sort of sentimental love that's more than friendship but not a romantic love. I also wonder what happened with Shin and PP because they teased Shin about the friendship but it really seemed that there could've been something between them. It's confusing because although they did an ending where they talked about opening up to themselves and being who they wanted to be, loving who they wanted etc. I still didn't get a clear idea of what exactly that was and maybe it isn't needed but I got confused a bit.

Also can I just say how amazing Gun is in this drama. It's the sole reason I loved his character so much. I think if it was anyone else I would hate the character and not be bothered about what happened to them, as brutal as that is. I think he portrays the role incredibly well and makes the character his own. I found he was amazing in Sotus as well and he is honestly such a talented and underrated actor. I think for me he is actually one of the best actors there are and I would love to see him as the main role in more dramas. I didn't stan him before this although I saw his talent but now I realised just how well he can change to fit a role and how he makes it his own to the point that even a side character can become the spotlight when they're in the scene.

The most beautiful final episode I have and will ever watch

Wow. To be honest I'm not really sure what else to say. I am stunned speechless by the whole of that final episode. I have never come across such mastery. I came into this drama thinking it was gonna be rather average and a time passer rather than a drama I was really really excited to watch and boy was I wrong. This drama was amazing and had me hooked from the very beginning. People say Esther Yu's acting is bad but I think she nailed it. The character is supposed to be that way which just proves that she is a very talented actress. Normally I would find the whiney voice infuriating and yet with her you just get used to it and it's almost as if you totally forget about it because it sounds so naturally fitting to the character. As for Ding Yuxi well his acting just continues to progress. Being a fan of him since The Romance of Tiger and Rose I have seen him progress drama by drama and wow he's come a long way. The fact he can go from angry to scared to upset and then calm and relieved all in the matter of about a 1 minute scene takes talent and he is absolutely filled with talent. The story was beautiful from start to finish with every character having depth and a well built story no matter how big or small their role.

But now I come onto the most important part and that's the true meaning behind the fantasy world. The revelation in the last episode. Like I said, I don't really know what to say except wow. From the writing to the producing to the scenery to the acting, it was genuinely magical and I rarely rave about dramas endings because even when I love a drama the ending usually doesn't match up to the standards of the whole drama but this not only met the standards but elevated beyond what I could have ever imagined. I have never read the novel so this was a huge and honestly overwhelmingly beautiful surprise. I was so touched by it and will probably linger in thought about it for days to come. The whole drama is honestly worth it just for the ending. If you're missing happy ending dramas then not only will you be grinning from ear to ear watching the end but you will be moved to tears by it too.

Genuinely this drama is a masterpiece of production, direction, writing, acting and the emotion and depth each actor brings to each character is just incredible. The whole drama was just amplified by such a creative and stunning ending.

Hidden Gem

I'm totally gutted this drama is over. I am definitely giving it a 9/10.

This drama really has everything you'd want in it.

It's a slice of life drama about 2 groups of friends that are originally 'enemies' but end up becoming friends and then become 3 pairs of lovers.

It's a story of strong friendships, learning about life and developing with age and understanding.

It's about love, understanding rights and wrongs and relationship developments.

It goes from 6 young adults who think life is easy whilst they're studying, to learning what the reality of life is in the world of work.

It really gives you a bit of everything and all 4 couples are given the right amount of attention.

It's not a drama where there's a main couple and a side couple to add a bit of an extra story but they're not in it a lot.

There's 3 main couples, with slightly different stories, different focuses and points in their relationships and then there's another couple who get a little less attention but still plenty enough to properly build a story.

Honestly this drama really just has everything that makes a drama complete and it's really well done. Brilliant cast, brilliant character development, brilliant storylines, brilliant production and it does genuinely teach you things about life that maybe you need to know or could learn. Everything is just superb and the final episode was just superb in terms of securing that 9/10

Really, really recommend it if you haven't watched it or maybe don't even know it exists. Don't miss this little gem!

Must watch drama

Without giving enough information to reveal too much of the story, I think this is certainly up to date with the realities of the LGBTQ community and avoids the stereotypes placed on gay couples. As the director and producer said, the focus of this drama isn't that it is a BL drama but that it is a romance drama and it just happens that these characters are gay. The plot thickens constantly throughout the drama and it leaves you desperate to watch the next episode. The majority of these actors are complete beginners and even the majority of the main roles too. Zee (Fighter) not only hasn't been a main role in anything before but actually hasn't started in any dramas or films as any character. He is completely new to dramas and the world of tv and he pulls it off as if he is an expert. His skills and talents in acting really make you believe he has been a professional actor for years and that he has done many BL roles before. Also Saint (Tutor) has more experience both in acting and BL dramas, he is still a relatively new actor and yet he can pull it off just as well too. Both of these actors as well as Jimmy and Tommy who are complete newbies, produce what is honestly one of the best dramas I have watched and the chemistry they manage to produce makes the drama seem as if it is real. I am incredibly impressed with the hard work and dedication these 4, and all the rest of the cast have put into the drama. Also, the crew worked tirelessly to make this perfect and really nailed it. There are issues with subtitles, sound and picture at times and it can be hard to watch, which is why I can't make my 8.5 any higher, but because the story, characters and acting are so fantastically done, I persevered and it really is a must watch drama. If you want an up-to-date, entertaining, creative and generally interesting and fantastic drama whether it be because it is BL or not, then this is definitely one to watch.
