A masterpiece

So many well-rounded characters, the scenes are gorgeous, the music is chill-inducing, the plot develops in such a way that you're always entertained and sometimes even moved to tears...
So many themes are present: revenge, love, family (that has to be the number one theme), honor, pride, loyalty, and these obsessions that one can't get rid of and sometimes turn deadly.
It's a story about accepting to let go and moving on.
Zhao Lusi is both funny and immensely dignified in this role, her portrayal of this complex character is truly magical.
This entire drama is a work of art, I will remember those characters forever.

This show has great characters, more complex than they first look. There's also a nice balance between funny moments and some moments that are meaningful (and a little sad let's be honest). I'm a sucker for revenge stories so there's also that.
There's a bit of a pace problem towards the end, I'll admit it, but I really enjoyed the writing of the characters so it kept me going.
If you're looking for a love story with kisses and hugs, maybe this won't work for you because the main couple is very proud and dignified and they're also very different people with different aspirations and goals... But the chemistry was real and the longing gave all the feelings.
And there is indeed a lot of love in this drama, and a lot of values. It deals with honor, grief, frienship, the promises and obsessions we can't let go of...
I recommend giving it a go, I rewatched it recently and I'm still very fond of how well each character is written.

I think this show deserves all the kudos. I know it was rated somewhat poorly on some platforms... Maybe it's because of the obvious censorship?

If you're hesitating because of the rating and/or censorship: please don't! It's worth your watch!

It is a very sweet love story, yes there is no kissing scenes and no obvious love declaration... but the male leads' chemistry is OFF THE ROOF! There's no mistaking the way they look at each other or act with each other. Besides, they spend most of the drama half naked and/or in the same bed... (which is technically way more nudity than we see in other dramas and now I'm confused about how China decides what to censor and not censor haha)

I'm giving this a 9.5 because I spent a really nice week watching these men falling for each other, it was very cute and they put a silly grin on my face. The main CP is very pure and must be protected at all cost.

I'm now on my way to find the novel and read it

Great acting and chemistry

I recommend giving this drama a chance despite its flaws. I gave it a nine because yes it's not perfect, but I had a really nice time watching it.
The chemistry between the lead was really amazing and left me hoping for more collabs between Wang Hedi and Bai Lu! The characters and couples were really cute. (Except maybe the couple formed by the best friend and the cousin, they didn't do anything for me, they were quite meh...)
If you're looking for a fast paced narrative, this is not for you as some subplots get dragged sometimes, I'm not sure I like the way this was directed 100% but the actors make it worth it cause they're real good. And apart from amazing chemistry they're also quite funny. Also, it's really worth watching if you're looking for fluff and sparkles ! You just have to make it past the (ok I admit - kinda boring) angsty bit in the middle and then you good !

First time dropping a drama

Why put forward four characters on the poster and in every trailers to then barely give them screentime? The plot is such a mess, you can tell even the four ""main"" characters are confused about what they're doing here...

There's no real rhythm to it, some plotlines could have been solved ages ago but get dragged on and on. The betrayals are not even believable unless you're willing to accept that every character is too dumb to see what's right in front of them.

I stuck to it for a little longer because the four mains are really sweet (even if the FL literally has two facial expressions -and I hate saying people can't act but come on?) and you want to see what happens to them, but I didn't make it far and skipped entire scenes to eventually drop the whole thing.

I'll give it two good points: as said previously, the four main characters are sweet, and the comic book style visuals are rather nice.

To sum it up: If you like deep and meaningful characters, you won't find it in there; if you like Xu Kai dramas, you'll barely see him; if you love revenge stories: you've been deceived.

I don't understand the hate this is getting...

The plot is quite original, the characters are well rounded, there are adventures, emotions and battles... even a slice of romance gets invited! I laughed, I fell in love, I cried (so many tears but no regrets)...
I have to admit it helps if you like Yu Shuxin in her favourite role type (woman-child with character growth).
Bonus point to Xu Kai playing the first male lead... and the second male lead. Very confusing if you like to root for one couple only haha Anyway, once you understand why Xu Kai had to play two characters, you see how brilliant it really is.
This drama deserves so much better, give it a chance !
