CHU WANNING COME HOME

I am writing this review as a reminder not to go back to this show...

The only reason I want to finish this show is because Yang Yang is so good-looking; he is just a very handsome guy and he does the best with what he is given, but honestly, even that can't save this drama.

I started this drama at the beginning of the summer and watched maybe 4 episodes and stopped for a week. This cycle continued on from stopping watching it for days and then those turned into weeks of not watching it. Perhaps that is why I am so lost with this drama.

Chemistry:
It is mainly just politics and some fighting. There is very little romance. On average I would say that the FL and ML flirt for 5 minutes an episode, but that is just not enough for me to continue watching it. I started this drama because I found the ML in the poster to be very attractive. I was right; he is very attractive, but he just isn't in this drama enough for me to continue watching. The chemistry between them isn't anything outstanding, but it isn't bad. It just isn't so engaging. I mean there have been no scenes so between the FL and ML that have stood out for me and left me remembering it. As far as I know, they start off the drama already knowing each other, have somewhat of a rivalry, but not really, and then they just like each other. Nothing too significant happens to them for them to all of a sudden fall in love. That would be okay, but I am halfway done with the drama, and they as a couple have left little to no impact on me.

Story:
I can't tell you much about the story. The drama has me pretty lost. I get the gist of what is going on, but in order to stay fully engaged, you have to know more than just the surface level of the story. There are a lot of side characters and politics going on and it gets very confusing. Honestly, the politics part for me was pretty boring, this is probably why I got lost because I simply did not care about what was going on within the world. This show kind of just assumes that the audience read the book it's based on or did some research beforehand because it just throws you into the middle of the politics they have and it just is so confusing.

I have been trying to make this drama into something that it is not in my head, and that would be a good drama, but it's just not that amazing. I really wanted to enjoy this drama, but it just isn't for me.

To be honest, I have been trying to find a drama that fills the void that The Untamed left me, but so far the Chinese Drama industry, in general, has left me pretty disappointed. Nothing outstanding has come out since, nothing that I have watched at least. The C-ent just keeps producing the same sorts of boring romance dramas with the same types of character tropes and storylines. I am not only dissapointed but deeply frustrated and saddened by this.

If only a drama could be released that would reach into the deepest part of my heart and truly make me feel alive. If only there were a drama with a very edgy storyline; a drama that does the main source of it justice and tells the story in the most touching way. If only there were a drama that could be released with the perfect casting, perfect setting, and perfect soundtrack to boot. With actors who were born to play the role that they were cast in, giving the performance of their life thus far. Imagine a drama with the most beautiful leads, those who showed true real chemistry and spark between them; leads that would leave us with scenes that we could never forget and would never want to forget. If only a drama could be released that tells the tale of love and hate and the misunderstanding between the two of those, and then later on what happens once you resolve that misunderstanding and get to fully embrace the love that you share with your loved one. A story about a love so strong that it transcends lifetimes, crosses universes, and outways immortality.

To be more specific... we need a story that tells of a husky who is the young disciple of the most powerful cultivator in the world, a white cat. Due to misunderstandings and general differences, the two have been at odds with each other. The white cat finds himself helpless in the face of the husky's teenage rebellion and the two keep on drawing further apart. Unbeknownst to the white cat in a past life, the husky and the white cat's animosity ended in great bloodshed and misery when the husky turned to dark cultivating techniques. After the past life ends, sixteen-year-old husky wakes up with knowledge regarding the events of that past life. Believing he can change his tragic end this time around, the husky sets out to change the course of events as he knows them but soon finds out things are not as they seemed to him. A story that would explore themes of redemption and morality very well, by exploring the husky's struggle with his darker desires, the guilt of his past life, and his attempts to remedy things during his miraculous second chance. This review is very subjective, the show is not that bad; if you read this far you will see that I have just been losing my mind waiting for a certain something to be released.
Tencent do better :(
