explicit content does not mean fetish LMAOOOO i swear ppl js be throwing words nowadays
define fetish using a real definition, not a personal interpretation. if straight romance includes kissing, sex, marriage, emotional intimacy — does that count as a fetish too? yes or no. if no, explain why that same logic doesn’t apply when it’s two men

you said they go at it like rabbits as proof of fetishization. then you said this has nothing to do with explicit. so which one is it?

how do unlikable characters or unrealistic plots equal fetishization? what is the actual link between writing quality and objectification?

you said watching two boys kiss is a fetish. so every single piece of media where two boys kiss is automatically fetish content? even if they're fully developed characters with emotions and depth? even if it's made by gay creators for gay audiences? where exactly is the line? who decides? you? based on what?

answer every question or admit you don't know what you're talking about. don't forget to define fetish before you reply because you still haven't done that hehe oki bye 👅👅

i agreed that SOME BLs lean into fetishization. i never agreed that THIS show does. those are not the same statement. my issue from the start is that your evidence for fetishization has been "they go at it like rabbits," "the characters are unlikable," and "the plot is unrealistic." none of those things explain fetishization

and no, you didn't make it perfectly clear. you just keep repeating that it's fetishization while listing things you dislike about the writing as proof

you keep acting like you've addressed what i said when you literally just ignored most of it

i literally gave you a definition of fetishization, and somehow your stupid ass mind still managed to not understand it. and now you've gone from talking about fetishization to talking about unlikable characters and unrealistic plots. what the fuck do those things have to do with each other?

you literally said 'going at it like rabbits' to prove your point. now you're saying 'this has nothing to do with explicit'?

if you're gonna call something fetishistic, at least explain how it's reducing the characters to objects of desire instead of just listing random things you dislike about the writing

also, i was trying to be kind when i said i get what you're saying to make you feel better you ungrateful fuck

i get what you're saying, and obviously there are some BLs that lean heavily into fetishization, but i think you’re using “fetish” in a way that’s way too imprecise for what it actually means

a fetish is when someone is strongly fixated on a specific thing and treats it as an object of desire or arousal rather than as something normal or fully contextual. so by your logic, any romance that shows physical intimacy would be a fetish LOLOLOL

“explicit” and “fetish” are not interchangeable terms, and treating them like they are kind of reveals the problem with the argument itself. plenty of mainstream heterosexual media contains explicit intimacy without anyone rushing to call it fetish content 🤷‍♀️

criticize it if you want, but at least critique what it’s actually doing instead of slapping a label on it and calling it a day

I usually don't see the fetishizing in bl content but i could see it very strong here :/ 2 not even likeable characters…

I was a bit disappointed with how the framing device of the documentary was used. Maybe it was just editing? "Plan…
i mean it's literally episode 1 out of 10

i think they intentionally spent so much of the premiere on the documentary side of things because they wanted us to see the version of the relationship they're trying to sell before we can appreciate all the ways it's falling apart. if they revealed everything immediately, the documentary angle would've had way less impact (imo)

and honestly, if they'd rushed straight into the off-camera stuff, people would've probably been complaining that the documentary premise was underutilized. whether it works or not depends on what they do with it over the next few episodes
