One of the best OSTs from a kdrama in a long time
I am seriously not kidding- the OST is the best part of the drama and I feel like gave it that dreamy quality. Other than that it is quite an okay drama. Not exceptional but not something unwatchable.
Best:
1. OST: Beautiful, heart-touching OST that honestly made the drama for me. 100/10
2. The main leads did not have sizzling chemistry but something about them makes you feel like they belong together and has a bond that's unmistakable. I can't tell whether it's because of the acting or their characters but they really CLICKED. Something about their interactions had so much intensity even though they were not saying a word.
3. The color coding of this tv show is seriously beautiful. Exactly how a romantic youth based slice of life drama should be. That and the OST worked together so well to hard carry this drama for real.
Bad:
1. The 2nd male and female leads. I don't really understand what they were trying to do with their characters to be very honest. The 2nd ml was brooding the whole drama being a martyr and the only substantial thing we know about him is that he is an workaholic and has strained relationship with his mother. He never makes a decent attempt to pursue the fl even in the 5 years she was broken up with the ml. Coincidentally, he starts meeting her often AFTER she meets the ml which is just...
The 2nd FL felt like a caricature honestly and runs with the same problem. She does not have any other personality other than being a fan and possible love interest of the ml and that her fame makes her lonely and bored. A beautiful super popular super successful idol girl pursuing a rustic, clumsy, average looking artist is so male fantasy coded that I did not expect it to be present in a romcom but here we are. Both of the 2nd ml and fl seemed quite immature and kinda unnecessary especially the 2nd fl.
2. The romance was interesting but honestly speaking the ml and fl characters needed mental health support in reality given both of them had unresolved traumas which they themselves have triggered within each other. Yes, they have matured and have more life experiences but some deep seated issues cannot be resolved only via love and understanding. The ml has severe abandonment issues, the fl has been traumatized by what she had to go through during her childhood and after due to her financial conditions. These things leave deep scars and although they have both found the person who is willing to go through with it together, it's still not enough to completely heal that the way the drama showed it to be. I know they wanted to make it a beautiful happy-go-lucky romcom but logical progression says they will end up hurting each other even badly, not because they broke up and were separated for 5 years but simply because who they are. Hell, they did not even have a proper conversation about why yeon-su even broke up with choi ung! The viewers understand why she did but a conversation between the leads were necessary to show the progression in their relationship, that yeon su has finally decided to trust choi ung.
I did not have any plans in watching it but it was overall an interesting concept which I feel needed a little bit more edge to it.
