While it has the 10 day reset, I still think it is significantly different from stories like groundhog day and reset. I'm reading the web novel now. All I can say is it's really good so far (I'm about halfway through) and the whole time loop doesn't feel derivative at all.

Sweetie, wow, that was not a reasoned response and there was nothing hate filled in my message to you so I'm not sure as to how it triggered you so badly. Your response, however, would objectively be called hate filled. You "don't even know which actor I'm a fan of" because I am not a ride or die fan of any *one* actor. I have a list here of all the actors I like. A few of those fall into the category of "I will watch anything they are in" XZ, is one. I guess I do find fans of the art form and the people who create it superior to those with such low bandwidth and self-esteem that they have to join a tribe and engage in this pathological behavior. Yeah, there are a lot of toxic fandoms out there but what happened to the toxic solo fans of XZ back then happened because a very large number of them crossed a line and nearly destroyed the career of a very nice young man (who was the real and only victim). Just because they didn't anticipate the fallout from their actions makes them no less culpable. And, like a lot of people who screw up, rather than reflect on themselves, apologize and do better *they* claimed victimhood for themselves, doubled down on their bad behavior and now have a very long legacy of chronically sh*tty behavior. They didn't create toxic fandom, they just took it to a whole new level and take no responsibility for the consequences. As the Chinese government has made actual laws against a lot of this BS, these bad actors now infest foreign sites like this one.

@janec, it's not 1 shrimp. And, to paraphrase some famous guy, I'm sure some of shrimps are very fine people. However, as I think you're aware, there is a systemic problem in C-ent fandom. XZ's fandom has been an example of this. I found the article below very interesting, have you seen it? @kokuto has been the target of a lot of abuse and false accusations from these usual suspects for making reasonable comments and I'm not going to fault someone for getting frustrated with their BS. It frustrates me to be accused of something untrue. In the context of this thread, kokuto understandably shorthands to referring to their opponents as shrimps because we shouldn't have to type "bullies who self identify as shrimps or other extremist fans of XZ" every time we refer to them collectively . Kukotu's less charitable comments regarding this people haven't reached the level of theirs. And because there is no organized group we fit into, they start calling us "antis" which is very insulting and categorically untrue. I *am* a fan of XZ but I will never join any of these tribes that are organized around his fandom. One bad apple don't spoil the whole barrel, but when you reach a certain critical mass of bad apples, well, it's time to get a new barrel and try to move the good apples. You say you used to be a shrimp, why do you not want to be one now? My suspicion is it has at least something to do with the group's reputation. I also believe that amongst XZ fans in general most aren't fanatical but the organized ones are quite toxic and there are so few people willing to stand up to them I think it's unfair to take down kokuto in this way. You don't understand the concept of racism. What you say in these comments does not demonstrate your intelligence... at all. Sure you can get some up votes from your fellow intellectually challenged tribe members but like them, your command of facts and basic vocabulary is severely lacking. And as Dunning and Kruger demonstrated in their research, one has to have a certain cognitive ability to be able to recognize their lack of cognitive ability. Regarding Liz and her ilk, you're right in your assumptions about them. Their arguing tactics are static, if you notice they issue the same false charges at every one of us that challenges them. We're just bitter fans of other "failed" actors who are against XZ. This is so far from the truth as to be laughable if it weren't such an injustice to those they accuse as well as a detriment to the actor they profess to love. If we respond to their BS whatever we say they essentially come back with some form of the childish retort "I know you are but what am I" 🙄 I also suspect that some of them have multiple accounts.
And yeah, the article isn't debunked because they believe AO3 wasn't "banned because of them." While I was late to the party (had never heard of XZ or watched Chinese dramas before March 2025), I've gone way down the 227 rabbit hole and the bottom line is what happened at that particular point in time was entirely instigated by them. The government might have eventually put AO3 outside the Great Firewall but they were the catalyst for it happening at that time. The government does not like instability and those fans stirred up so much trouble. And they did almost end his career. It's a testament to his maturity and his very strong support system (not his fans) that he survived as well as he did. He already had put in so much work to become part of the entertainment industry without having had any early training, it's awful to think all these deranged strangers have so much control over his career in ways they are constitutionally unable to understand. He literally loses potential fans because people are so put off by their behavior. Some people observe XZ changed after this incident, that he seems less happy. People speculate about all kinds of reasons but it likely boils down to him having to carefully navigate the fandom so he can keep doing what he loves even though he has to do it on very thin ice that someone else can break.
Regarding the WB/YZ shipping: I'm not militant about it I'm just uncomfortable with it. As an individual, I know how I feel when people have speculated about me and my private life. I don't think celebrities have lost the right to privacy and I do think much of the fan fiction world routinely crosses the line where it's potentially hurtful to the real people involved. Shipping the characters is one thing, shipping the real people is another. I was taught that if I don't like having something done to me, I most definitely shouldn't do it to someone else. If a turtle says, "I just believe in my heart those two have a certain kind of relationship," I guess that's fine, but when it's fodder for all kinds of internet discussion, stories, Ai generated images and video, some of it pornographic... I can't condone that. Whatever their relationship is or was, let's be honest, there's no better way to kill a relationship than by tying it up with all this publicity, positive or negative. So I guess I just wish we as fans could be less greedy for what we feel entitled to from someone who has moved into the celebrity world. At the end of the day they are people who may have won the career lottery from our perspective but they are still human beings with feelings. XZ has a Mom and Dad and as a Mom of an adult successful man myself it would hurt me to see false information about my son all over the web regardless of the intentions of those posting it... thank God my son's not famous 🤣
This being said, I don't look down on you for the part turtle thing, you do seem like a nice and thoughtful person. I just offer it as food for thought. I love Chinese dramas so much. I'm grateful for all the casts and crews who put their hard work in so that I can enjoy this entertainment that is perfect for me. Am I curious about them, sure, but I try to always consider what information I reasonably and ethically have a real right to. It's nice being so deep in this nightmare of a thread that we can have a pleasant discussion without those zombie fans weighing in. 🙂 Watch this...
Screw Liz! She's an idiot. XZ is just one of many fine Chinese actors and while he's the first lead of TDU, there are many other main leads as well. That's just a fact of the story. 🤣 And this nightmare of a thread was made so by them, not those of us that expressed ideas different from those bullies. And you know what else has some truth to it? Before XZ was contracted to play QZ, I'm pretty sure they considered other actors if he was unavailable or unwilling to play the role. I've never seen the actor that was mentioned in anything but I looked him up and could see why his name came up, he's talented too and can play this kind of role. Someone saying this should not have sparked this intense debate and their ire. But that's what happened, they're not good people and sadly, people like them rarely ever change. I work in health care and I can tell you this kind of behavior isn't healthy and they end up pretty miserable. Karma is kinda real you know 😏

I and others are as much fans as the ones that attack people who make comments they don't like. These people who chose to be offended on behalf of actors who don't care but are forced to stay out of this BS have a psychological problem where they get their self importance by creating a false significance of their actions with regard to their pet stars. It's sad there are as many of these parasocial people who call themselves fans.

At this point the bad apples in that barrel spoil the whole concept so any time I see someone self identify as a Shrimp or XFX it's hard not to expect toxic behavior from them. I really think there are mostly people like us in the fandom but we're just not as motivated to be as loud and obnoxious as that minority. There's a warm place in my heart, though for people like you who are occasionally willing to stand up to them.

Glad you're still out there fighting the good fight against the 脑残粉 (I learned a new word today 🤣) I'm so pleased to see the cast list got fixed on here, when did that get done? Anyway wish I could have seen their meltdown when that happened.
