Since we're making up our own endings now- my pairing that will never happen is Hye Yeon and Ji On, lol.
They both amuse me as individual characters and deserve better than pining over someone who doesn't reciprocate their feelings.

I hope so too! With the tone of the drama, they could easily go "it doesn't matter what happened to her- just that she's gone and this is how Eun Ho makes peace with this uncertainty."

But I must know what happened! That will be my point of outrage.

Ji On's "You've literally only known her for a month and have ulterior motives, how can you be her caretaker" was everything I was thinking and more at that time.

Ah well.

The rating has dropped, you're right, but its been pretty consistent-it went to 8.3 and back down to 8.1 again.
I just think its interesting people are giving the drama a chance. I've watched dramas (cough, the impossible heir) where the rating was just in constant free fall.

I know, I've been wondering the same thing actually. Or is it that people are holding on to hope and the rating is going to tank next week when everyone is inevitably disappointed?

Its not completely impossible, I think.

Every now and then dramas like to pair up spare characters with very minimal build up. I'm starting to think this one won't have a very satisfying end so who knows where they're going.

I think you're right! Only I'm leaning towards we actually might not even see Hye Ri anymore- the unaired scenes could be flashbacks.
But agreed we're in the last third so it makes sense to focus more on Eun Ho and how she learns to process her trauma and how she heals/moves on. Personally I think that it would be hard for Eun Ho to heal if Hye Ri is a constant presence.

Its interesting stuff but I imagine if viewers were invested in the Hye Ri character they would feel a little cheated with this resolution.

That conversation was kind of a summary of my discomfort with the whole Ju Yeon/Hye Ri relationship from day one. Hye Ri doesn't seem to exist beyond being in love with Ju Yeon. So their relationship was unbalanced because basically it was Ju Yeon trauma dumping so he didn't have to deal with his own problems. Maybe he does love Hye Ri, but that's only because she "loved" him first.
I thought we had moved past the beautiful but broken archetype who just needs love and support from the right woman that will fix him. Ju Yeon needs to put on his big boy pants and be the hero he needs.

On some subconscious level, I think 'Hye Ri' chose Ju Yeon to fixate on because he was the anti-Hyeon O.

I cant decide if I should wait a couple of weeks before watching this again. It's taking a long time for the healing to start and in the meantime watching all the miserable people isn't particularly enjoyable for me.
Hye Yeon is the only one not constantly miserable but I also don't enjoy that her plot, with serious themes is played for comic relief. I guess it also doesn't help that she isn't really connected to the core plot.

I hope they let Hye Yeon have her moment because her reactionary non-apology "apology" can't be the conclusion to this.
She lost her position over this ridiculousness and no-one at work was willing to take a stand for her. The person who was the most understanding to her was the woman who accused her of sleeping with someone to get the job. Everyone else, Ju Yeon included, couldn't wait to do the bare minimum and get themselves as far away from the situation as possible.

Oh I agree with you there. Hyeon O's behaviour after the break up can't really be defended. And Eun Ho should not be expected to be understanding of his motives and look for his good intentions after he broke up with her.

I think it can be easy to hold him responsible for the failure of their relationship when Eun Ho is in such an obvious crisis and its easier to see where she's coming from. But honestly, the failure to communicate and confusion in their relationship is kind of on both of them.

One thing that flashback did was make me side-eye E1 Ji On a bit, because are there no other women in the world?

I think there is an interesting parallel to be drawn betwen Eun Ho and Hey Yeon's careers. Its not that Eun Ho is being singled out at her workplace. The whole industry is toxic af.

Also i think they're basically just building up the eventuality where Ju Yeon's plot diverges from Eun Ho/Hye Ri and he stops being a spectator in his own life

Assuming that there's no weird time jumps happening, Hye Yeon's visitor was neither Ju Yeon or Hyeon O. Ju Yeon was commuting between Seoul and Busan that night where he saw Hyeon O at Eun Ho's. Based on Ju Yeon's taxi fare I assume the distance between the two cities is substantial enough that neither was sleeping over at Hye Yeon's that night. The way they hid his face suggests we know who it is. Lets see I guess. I also slightly suspect that that conversation may be a misdirection, but I can't explain it, lol.

Also, a completely inconsequential but tedious detail- Hui Yeon was Ji Hyuk's younger sister in MMH. They had the same dad.

I guess we'll find out soon enough, but anyone have any speculations about whether Ju Yeon is going to make a spectacularly messy move in his current state of despair because yiiikes.

I assume we're going to get a Hyeon O pov episode soon where they're going to try to explain where he's coming from because no way a ML is going to get such an ambivalent edit with that synopsis.

Did Father Andreas and A Ri not get together? I forwarded a lot of talking, lol. I assumed because it looked like he moved on from being a priest and they went to the wedding together.

In case you still wondered about it, the turtle who tortured Tae Joo and her husband was Kim Gang Wook (the agressive detective in his team who Jang Hae Ryong shot and killed in the second episode). Someone (I forget who, maybe Turtle 3?) tells her that subconsciously she knew from the start that it was him (I think when he says that line about humanity) but she ignored it because she couldn't have had revenge if he was already dead.

He did it because she was secretly reinvestigating Young Goon's mother's murder. They had found DNA that they hadn't been able to test when the murder happened. And she wanted to try testing it with new technology. They wanted to get the evidence from her because it would have shown up as Hae Ryong's DNA.

That part broke me, lmao. Because until then I thought the 'lesson' was that the DNA lover thing wasn't real.
