That's why Ancient Love Poetry is still the best xianxia and angst drama for me—it never treated the male lead like this. He only wanted to protect her. Everything he did was also to save his brother, yet he never tried to hurt her. Instead, he was the one who carried all her pain and suffered for her. She can forgive Tongzhou, even though he tortured her and imprisoned her just to obtain her power. Then she says to the male lead, "Just as I forgave him, I'll forgive you too." Forgive him for what? After 20th episodes the drama was full messy always showing sml story, fight scenes than ml. And sml and fl got more screen time together but ml got only few minutes screen presence. I really like the first 10 episodes becuase they show more screen time and fight scenes of ml, but he always left alone and doesn't talk much. Tongzhou didn't deserve to live. He made so many mistakes, so letting him live wasn't the right decision. Also, Lei shouldn't have lost his powers. He's the Demon Lord, but he barely uses any demon powers. After episode 20, the story focuses almost entirely on Tongzhou—his story, his fights, and his bonds.
