Ski into Love Episode 6

it's very refreshing to see a cdrama with such good representation of a wheelchair user. shan shan has aspirations, hobbies and a love life of her own. she isn't defined by her disability, although i'm sure future episodes will reveal the tragic story of how she came to need a wheelchair (and tbh it will probably involve her brother). i just hope that this series doesn't fall into the usual pattern of needing to "cure" a character's disability in order to have a happy ending

as always, the king is impulsive, short-sighted and, frankly, idiotic. also, this whole series prince jesan has been having rebellious little chats with his henchmen out in the open, but this episode is the first time anyone overhears him, and it happens not once, but twice? and of course they are both caught. smh poor writing. in someone else's hands, this story could've been great instead of merely mediocre at best. the acting is great, though

look, i get we're supposed to feel sympathy for air but i don't at all. she knows she's hurting both lamp and pure, yet she's too much of a coward to actually cut ties with either of them. i'm sure she'll have some tragic explanation for her actions, but i don't really care. i'm glad pure stood up for herself at the end of the episode

i cannot wrap my head around how stupid everyone is, especially the king. how was he never suspicious of his consort? how is he still not suspicious about grand prince jesan? why is there no security at the prison where their key witness is being held? now they finally know that kang mok-ju is evil, so why is no one watching her? why would gong-gil try to assassinate the king without even being sure of who killed his sister? why go through all the trouble to embed yourself in his life, just to sneak off and shoot him from afar? that makes no sense. and what makes the least amount of sense is how a king devoid of all common sense and political savvy, manages to hold onto the throne for so long. honestly, if i knew how dumb these characters would end up being, i never would've started this show.

i don't want to see sweet scenes of gao jianhong and xu lina reconciling. screw his illness, i still want to see gao jianhong suffer. but now he's sick so suddenly he's no longer a villain? why do cdrama writers think they must redeem their antagonists in order for the series to have a happy ending? and even though xu lina is an irritating character, she still deserves better than to end up with a man who hits her. they're not romantic or cute, and it concerns me that their relationship is now being depicted as such. like what message are we sending here?? anyway, zhu yun was great here and i'm glad she's finally back with li xun because that's been long overdue. their chemistry is unreal

someone please tell me why li lan so weak and stupid. like this is a grown woman with a family of her own, yet she's depicted as so useless she needs her little brother to do everything for her. then all she needs to do is stay put until it's time for her surgery and she can't even do that? annoying

tbh yetan's death would've been a lot more poignant if we hadn't already seen it happen literally 40 times with the start of each episode. because of that, it's clear from the beginning that yetan is going to sacrifice herself to close guixu. and this narcissistic turd of a heavenly emperor NEVER should've gotten to redeem himself, especially considering they made suzhi randomly become evil. the emperor spent the whole series crapping on his kids and now suddenly he cares about them and sees the error of his ways? nonsense. both of these character reversals are neither believable, nor necessary. ultimately, i think this is a good series, but these last few episodes leave a lot to be desired

making suzhi a villain is so unnecessary. it's like the writers planned this story out and it only came to 38 episodes so they were like "hmm. how do we fill these last two episodes and also compensate for the incredibly unspectacular final show off with the heavenly emperor? let's find a character no one would expect to be evil to open guixu!" like if suzhi was going to harm innocents to fuel her vendetta, why wouldn't she do it in the 10,000 years she was alone? she spent the whole series protecting yetan and acting righteously but now she's gonna murder yetan to literally destroy the world? bizarre

so clearly suzhi is going to be the final big "evil" of this series. which means the heavenly emperor who STILL shows not an ounce of remorse for the unforgivable things he's done gets to live (and perhaps redeem himself in these last two episodes? we'll see, i guess) and instead poor suzhi is a villian now? i don't like how this is unfolding

well it isn't xianxia without an unnecessary case of amnesia, is it? how tedious. but yetan was great this episode! loved the scene in the void but i think consort xue and chaofeng wanting to give the void tyrant a chance to live was weird

this is a good episode, except for how naive the characters are in some parts. how could they so easily believe the emperors that literally just threatened to raze a city of innocent, weak mortals to the ground? i understand qingkui's thinking because her biggest flaw has always been her naivety, but chaofeng and yetan? it's hard to believe they'd have zero suspicion about the celestial emperor and the void tyrant's promise

well the incredibly predictable "he put her through hell to protect her" storyline with the human emperor and yetan has finally arrived. and as predicted, it's illogical and corny and so pointless. why do the cdrama screenwriters always feel compelled to give these monster fathers some form of redemption?

the three emperors in this show are absolutely maddening. horrible fathers, all three of them, and i hope they all meet gruesome ends. unfortunately, i have my predictions for their fates: the void empress will end up killing the void tyrant and seizing power after he defies her, the human emperor will get a redemptive arc where everything he did to yetan is "for her own good" or some bs like that, and the celestial emperor is going to screw with the seal on guixu to get youqin under his thumb again. there are definitely more evil tricks up his sleeve, and i pray qingheng isn't stupid enough to talk to him about dongqiu. youqin was awesome this episode-- i really do love how the characters in this show stand up to the emperors, like how yetan yelled at the celestial emperor after youqin died, or when chaofeng was going to be executed and qingkui straight up told the void tyrant his son's death was his fault. idk maybe i'm just too irritated by the emperors. they've all lived too long-- it's time for at least one of them to die, and i think the first one who kicks the bucket will be that dumb, indecisive void tyrant

i am so obsessed with yetan cursing out the emperor! so refreshing to hear. now i want to see her do the same to her crappy father. qingkui and chaofeng are cute but it makes me anxious to think about when she finds out he's been lying to her. poor qingkui, there is no one in the void realm who has been sincere with her. my heart breaks for both sisters-- yetan for her difficult childhood and qingkui for her current life in the void realm
