I didnt wanna like this but here I am

Yeah i thought i was too cool for this series.i mean you cant blame me. The plot is pretty shit just from the synopsis. The basicest of the basicestest basic. Enemies to lovers and rando family fueds. And the dreaded engineering faculty. This was going to be bad. i just knew it. Did not even try.
I did try watch the first episode and sure enough within the first 5 minutes theres a bunch of guys beating each other up. Trying to look all matcho.And if you know me I find action more loathful and boring that anything else. So i pretty much gave up 5 minutes in.
BUT. theN I went on one of those coldties edits. (S/he are the only reason I watch any dramas.) she and everyone else was so hyped about it and the edit made it look good so i was just like.... Ok now i have to watch it.
So i did! Definitely had to skip all the ffight scenes but that was just the first five minutes. Then it got better and better and i was just smiling throughout. And before I knew it this series took over my LIFE. i dont think i d be alive the entire week if i didnt know bad buudy was releasing in friday. And i cant believe its ending so soon:/
The plot is basic. Yeah. Fact. But its ok. It takes a cliche and just executes it well. Which makes it amazing. Its like all the feel goodness of 2gether minus the cringe and the lack of chemistry(was that controversial, i dont care sarawat and tine are just so straight that my brain doesnt stitch them together. Even when sarawats talking about grabbing tines tits, and he does that aLOT, it feels so utterly heterosexual.)i guess because theyre friends irl. Its also very healthy. Wholesome. They have realistic issues except for the fam thing. Not even a bit of unneccessarily prolongedyy drama. These boys act like real human beings. They talk stuff out. As they should. They dont act emotionally constipated just to extend the episode count to 20. Love that.

The actings pretty fine. I have 0 complaints. I dont want to get flamed by the stans but I feel like people hype nanons acting up incredibly high and I dont get it. I am NOT SAYING hes bad at acting. NOT AT ALL hes actually tred good and good at making you feel like its not acting. Very impressive for a young age too and hes only going to be getting better. What im saying though is that its the bare minimum to not cringe at an actors skillslol? I think we're all just so used to low tier bl actors that when anyone who can give a decent play of their role, its genuinely shocking, which i dont quite understand. Hes not bad AT ALL AND I REEMPHASISISE THAT HES ACTUALLY GOOD but yes i didnt quite get the hype. He plays his role like an actor should and I hope that sets a standard. Everyone acts pretty fine too.

Defined my childhood and changed the course of my life

And by that i mean i ended up chronically addicted to kdramas and random korean stuff beca use of which i spent years hunched over a screen and i got severe dry eye syndrome which i kept doing warm eye compress 'massages' for and rubbing my eyes which later (might have) given me keratoconus and then i had to get surgery done and my eyesight still sucks and my eyes still burn and i cant become a pilot anymore.

But NONETHELESS.
This drama was my entire childhood.
I still remember how i found it. I was a weird child and i was searching up...uhm 'hot kiss scenes' on youtube because that was the closest thing to cornography i knew about,and i accidentally watched this. And I kept watching. And here i AM a decade later.

Controversially id give the acting and cast a 10 tho ill swipe off 1.5 to counter my inherent bias. This is because HANI MY Gworl carried the show. I wouldnt take her any other way. I know people hate her, think shespathetic(they have a point). But theres something so endearing about her. She's cute. The cutest

I watched an episode and flipped through parts of itazura na kiss 2013 which seems more liked, and it irked me how... sober the girl is there. For me what carries the show is the cringe. The consistent and CONSTANT second hand embarrassment you feel for hani. But you still feel for her. her tenacity/patheticness.

The guy is an insufferable asshole though.

I do hate the last three episodes though. The sudden marriage thing was incredibly stupid and made my rating plummet into the negativesBUT i watched the youtube special season for after their marriage, which more than compensates for that. I thought theyd suck for each other but they set off each other really well and thankfully the boy is less dicque-y. Lemme just act like the last three episodes never happened.

Now that i have 'grown', i do think the mother in law is awful.

Bittersweet

i just rewatched it again, and Im impressed.
Its not never done before but its a bit beautiful or whatever nonetheless.
People hate the ending sometimes a bit but i like it alot. As i said its bittersweet. Not sad at all but not happy.

Not really a spoiler but it is happy, but by the time it becomes happy theyve already lost too much, mostly time. Their youth. Other peoples time.

Its a bit open ended but I believe it was happy.
0 qualms with the acting.

I do wish they got a different guy for the older version of ahan(? I dont remember the name, i nean the guy whos not birdy) because I really noticed that slight bump(?) to the younger actors nose and its quite a distinctive shape.

So when they showed the older guy with a straight nose my brain was a bit confused but anyways. I digress. Its obviously totally irrelevant I just wanted to get the 500 characters in

That said I think the story could have survived without the random white priest. But it ties into the directors real experiences so I dont mind either. Profiter du moment. Except if youre gay. The ending and the truth about the white guy made it a bit sadder or relevant though.

I read through all the imdb negative reviews and I dont completely understand them. I never felt much of that. There was a slight choppiness to the movie but that was only because of the 10 minutes of deleted scenes, which i would HIGHLY reccomend watching on youtube after the series. Well shot and acted otherwise. It feels nostalgic though I was not really alive for any of this.

The original series was trashy but this extra episode just made it a grave. Nothing can redeem him. He doesnt deserve human rights. He needs jail bro. BORING

I dont care about infidelity or screwed up storylines but this was SO boring to watch. They arent bad actors but theyre stiff because theyre supposed to be. The worst thing was how abrupt the cuts were. I do not know if it was a stylistic choice taken on purpose but its so aprupt that its hard to enjoy. They omit entire happenings of context and summarize that in maybe one line of dialogue told to some character. Like youre supposed to pick it on contrxtually. But it sucked a bit

The sexual scenes were very out there. That was good lol but everything else is an absolute meh.

Iw ill say, not a completely unrealistic story though. But doesnt make it less boring.

ok maybe im just a rabid fanbut are we watching the same drama yall? It was great. I rewatched it after 7 years so it was like watching it for the first time but not once did i feel any of the flaws. 2 for the music because you AARE MY DESTINAY got very very old real quick. Plus its been used on those meme edits so I cant take it seriously. Its clearly an unpopular opinion right now because everyone thinks this is revolutionary, and I dunno if ill get ratioed with a bunch of _you're entitled to your wrong opinion_ comments lol, but yeah.

I was incredibly excited for this series. Im glad we graduated engineering finally, leads have chemmy, most importantly the trailers were like art films.

And i still like that, even the finished series just screams money, but tactfully, no tackiness, just great cinematography. And COLORS.

So 9 for cinematography, ill put it in the realm of ITSAY(they have the same person on the cinematography if im not wrong?)

The actual show? Boring, standard at best, at least so far. Im not saying its bad but for ALL the hype its gotten, it still seems like a standard bl MINUS all(well...most of) the fanservice(for now), just corni unfunny slapstick(?) and slightly !emotional! filler. And random kiss at the end(GOOD kissing tho ill give em that too)

Which is ok. Ish.

Maybe itll get better. Perhaps. I'm aware they havent really gotten into the plot yet. If this review sucks, too bad , Im just really trash at explaining my thoughts but tldr basically: boring, standard at best, doesn't fit the hype(so far)

?? I don't know whether it's considered rape or what but Porsche guy being drugged out of his brains made this uncomfortable.
It's also very very very explicit which also made me uncomfortable for no reason because I can imagine how awkward it is for them to film lol.
At least it's less tryhard 'funny' this episode so I'll consider that a slight improvement.
That said nothing really has happened yet plot wise, save for komedi.

Unless that whole thing with the drug thinghas any relevance beyond being a convenient set up for seggsy content. Ah we have finally descended into the fanservice.
Will I watch the rest of this? Of course I will, even if it's just to shit on it :p but I'll wait for it to pick up on the plot and comment!:::

I'm liking this alot better. Much of the garbage humour is done away with, I appreciate that. They made Porsche angry about the dubcon thing and the general disrespect, also appreciated that.

It's still kind of bland in my opinion so I'll just keep it at 7

Also the pacing? Has anything really even happened yet? I'm aware the drugging is serious stuff but at this point it just feels like a random isolated event right now and if they go at this pace they'll be rushing through some of the later parts

How did yall sit through this

Whar made this unbearable was NUBSEEB. Not because of the character but the actor. In my opinion. I see everyone gave the acting a nine and... maybe im wromg, im not saying its an objective fact but his acting was so off. saw him in uwma and there he had a role where he had to look emotionally constipated at all times and THAT, he pulled off well. I was curious to see how hed pull of something which required more of a range of emotions. And I got my question answered, he made his best attempt but he can't. But has a nice face, if i were to be superficial about it. He kind of made the series hard to sit through simply with how odd his acting is. The constant !GENEE! And the constant smiling. It just weirds and creeps me out for reasons i cant explain.
The other guy was okay. Ish. I think nubsib could benefit from some more work in the acting department. Fighting.

I skipped to the scene where they do the deed because Im superficial like that and THAT was good. Proud of them.
I also really did appreciate that they were so all in our faces about the consent thing. As they should. I believe whoever worked on this worked on tharntype if im not wrong,and realises how garbage and dubcon it was. Hence this, to kinda counter that somehow. I like that, thank you. In fact that was the only reaosn i pushed myself into getting through that many episodes but at some point i had enough
