Probably the worst series I've ever watched, I couldn't help but laugh at how terrible it was..

This series was hilariously bad. In fact, it being so bad to the point that it was funny is the only thing that saved it from being a 0/10 for me. It came across like the outline of a script after one day in the writer's room, a good skeleton with absolutely no meat to it. The only reason I finished it was to give it a fair shot before I reviewed it and I actually like it LESS than I did at EP. 8 when I originally wanted to drop it.

It had bad and often random cuts, little to no context to character decisions or story development, the appearance of characters seemingly out of thin air on numerous occasions, uncomfortable NC scenes, far too many random and cringey English lines, and virtually no followable plot outside of what you are told in the summary. Just an awful mess that was only as entertaining as it was laughable.

If you're in it for the romance, go for it. If not, keep moving.

The show itself was fine. The acting, directing, and music were all great, there were a good amount of funny scenes that didn't detract from the plot, and the storyline was fine. However, the romance aspect of the plot takes up the majority of the run time and if that's not your thing than it can get quite boring after a while.

I wanted to watch it for the supernatural aspect and, while I don't mind romance, I ended up skippikg through most of the show and almost dropped it because it really hit a slump in the action/supernatural department. I wanted to finish it in case it got more exciting, however, th ending was much more lackluster than I had hoped.

If you're expecting the main plot to be about his vampirism, maybe watch something else

Only mild spoilers ahead: As someone who only watches supernatural dramas most of the time, I actually really liked it. However, while the vampire theme is the main storyline, it's in the background for the majority of the show. He's a detective that has non-human abilities but he rarely struggles to come to terms with it like you would see in a lot of other vampire shows. Also, spoiler: he doesn't drink blood at all during the show and never once shows he wants to drink it (which is odd for a show about vampires, but it's fine). Also, the human characters don't seem that surprised about the existance of vampires like you think they would be. They find out and then don't really talk about it, which makes the pacing of the show a little weird. I think that they could have had another two episodes if they just added more to him becoming a vampire instead of basically skipping over it.

Overall, a good show with a good stroyline, but not as vampire-focused as I had thought/hoped it would be.

I cannot begin to express how amazing this drama is. The acting, the wardrobe, the set design, the music; it was all wonderful! The book that this drama is based on shows the intimate love between the main characters, but the drama shows the emotional love. Because of China's censorship, they technically aren't supposed to be a couple, but the actors do such a great job of expressing love between the characters through their eyes and body language that I honestly don't even notice that they never actually confessed.
I've watched a lot of BL and bromance dramas, but this one is a contender for my favorite. I highly recommend you check it out, even though it's really long, you won't be disappointed. I wasn't going to write a review for this, but after rewatching it for the third time I realized that it deserves to be talked about.
