I watched the original back in 2018, so I’m definitely biased, but from what I remember, the ending in the original adaptation was much more satisfying because Ketsurang (Great in this new adaptation) decided to stay in Ayutthaya and live out her life as Karakade (Gaew in this new adaptation) with Dech, and they had their family and friends there. This one isn’t necessarily bad in concept, but the execution was SO rushed, like they suddenly realized they only had 10 episodes and just said “welp, wrap it up” 😭 So yeah, this one being so abrupt was definitely a choice.

12 weeks of psychological warfare and I’d still recommend it. Ten perfect stars. No further questions.

EXACTLY 😭😭 Chat keeps fucking things up, never takes accountability, and somehow everyone else gets blamed. His dad barely scolding his dumbass makes it even worse. That man stole the money and had the AUDACITY to blame everyone else when he’s literally the reason they lost their fortune. Without his thieving ass, they’d still be living in that damn palace.

People saying Thin is his dad’s favorite when Chat literally gets away with every damn bad thing he does. Thin gets treated like the family scapegoat while Chat can fuck up the whole damn family and still somehow never face any consequences.

Those are good points. I guess my issue isn’t really with Gaew being a relative. I understand why they changed that, It’s more that Karakade’s upbringing made her cruelty feel much more deeply ingrained. So far, this version of Gaew comes across more like a spoiled brat than someone who genuinely looked down on everyone, but maybe the later flashbacks will add more context

That’s fair! I actually enjoy this adaptation so far. I think it probably doesn’t feel as rushed if you haven’t seen the previous adaptation. The 2018 version spent a lot more time building the mystery before Date/Dech realized something was off, so that’s probably why the pacing stood out to me.

I agree. I don’t mind changes as long as they’re well executed. And yeah, I also feel Karakade was much harsher. That made Kadesurang’s kindness stand out even more

Omg, sorry! I completely missed this reply. 😭😭😭 I actually ended up dropping it. Not because it’s bad at all, I genuinely think it’s a really well-made series. It was just a bit too triggering for me and even gave me some physical anxiety symptoms, so I decided it was better to stop. Thanks for the encouragement, though. Maybe I’ll give it another shot when I’m in a better headspace💛💛

Maybe “knows too much” wasn’t the best wording. I meant Dech already realized this isn’t the same Gaew by Episode 2, which is much earlier than in the 2018 adaptation. I get it tho. They only have 10 episodes, so they had to tighten the pacing

Also, we're only two episodes in, and Dech already knows way too much already. I kinda wish they'd let the mystery and tension build a bit more.

Loved this so far, but I wish they hadn't downgraded Gaew to just a relative. In the OG adaptation, Karakade was the daughter of a very high-ranking nobleman, which explains why she had such a cruel nature and elitist attitude toward commoners

Currently on episode six. I know the ending. I know it’s going to hurt. The real question is: should I continue, or should I prioritize my mental well being for once?
