Wait, really?? I didn’t know that… It’s surprising to know, his dramas are not that popular in China. I think people are just complaining for the sake of it at this point. I’ve only seen people criticize his costumes, saying they look so similar in all his dramas that it’s hard to tell his characters apart- and honestly, I couldn’t disagree more. His characters look distinctly different in each of his dramas. (Like seriously, don’t YA's and Rui’s characters look completely different in all three dramas?)

I decided not to rely on rumors earlier since they just lead to more frustration… but these rumors align with YA’s social media post date, so I want to feel hopeful...
Another common factor between MJTY and FOF, apart from the famous cast, is that both were iQiyi dramas. This studio seems much more efficient than Youku. Even now, they’ve already held a conference for their upcoming dramas... and there’s still no news from Youku.

sadly source material is so much worse. In manga one of the main protagonist who's played by 'Jin' is a rapist too. they toned it down a lot in this series... Yeah, people simply accepting is so horrible... I've seen so many comments already like Johnny is making me sick, they completely forgot about what he did!!

He may be a controversial figure, but this man knows how to make art. He's so good at his job. Maybe the reason he's still getting platforms, investors, and producers is because they have faith in his craft... and know that they'd make a good profit. And it's no wonder after looking at MJTY and FOF success...
And Xiao Zhan is a big name, he’s on a whole different level. His name alone is basically a promotion for any drama. No wonder he got 3 million reservations.
I agree that MJTY and FOF had more well-known casts, and it clearly explains the low reservation for Hidden Shadow. But I'm hopeful that after FOF's success, I think a lot of people genuinely like Yan An and would watch just for him (like me!). Even viewers who don’t necessarily stan Yan An, but ended up liking him after their favorite characters in FOF, might still tune in. Plus, fans of GJM’s aesthetic- and those waiting for VOS- might watch this one too. So, even though reservations are low, I still think there's a good chance this drama could attract a big audience...
I’m honestly new to C-dramas, so I don’t really know how long it usually takes for a drama to air after wrapping up. But if GJM’s previous dramas aired sooner than this one, then let’s hope there’s no bigger issue causing the delay.
I just hope this gets the smooth release sooner...

coming back to Hidden Shadow, It's a GJM drama, so obviously, it's a high budget. Teaser clips look so high quality and costumes are top-notch as to be expected from his dramas... They must've invested a lot in this, so why won't they anticipate it to be a hit!?! casting newbies could not be a reason, cause GJM tends to cast not-so-famous actors... Also, the story of the book is very good, so it does have the potential to become a hit if they choose to promote it!
I agree with your logic tho.. if highly anticipated dramas are airing on other channels, they probably won't risk it with this one...
Yeah, they filmed that show in March, which was released in April, I guess. So they did start to promote it and had plans for it, but for some reason, they seem to have changed their plans for the release date now...
I hope they release their lists soon and put us out of suspense, so if we have to wait further, we can do that in peace...
