I gave it more than intended rating bcz the acting of everyone is superb.Despite the heavy subject the tone is light without any melodrama,it won't make u cry but it can make u depressed. Good wholesome slice of life plot n so much to the story that it cud be made into a whole drama.I like the transition n how they manage to cover everything in 2:30hrs really smoothly.I was engaged n never got bored. Hats off to the director n the actor played a-ho ,he is very suited to these kind of somber tone movies, his eyes speak.
Looks like m the only one who dint like this movie.Well there's nothing to like, it was just frustrating with wrongfully accused n weak MC which is not a problem but there's nothing much to plot .Well yes i pity him but that's it
The movie is superb if i consider the time.Good acting , cinematography n catchy music with original instruments which i love about old movies that they mostly use real instruments instead of making all the sounds from synthesizer which is common today . Keeping in mind it's an old movie when there were not many facilities ,so much physical labour, oppression of women , agriculture dependency, lack of medical facilities n the list goes on . Although that slap scene surprised me bcz i was expecting the help ,m not going to judge it bcz that time was like that.
I would have rated it high if not for exaggeration.I just don't get why do they have to go fetch the damn water, which is not any safer than rainwater, in that heavy rain which is causing flood, instead of that collect the rainwater then boil it n drink .They cud easily collect 4-6 buckets of rainwater in rainy days ,they dint need much but no , director thinks viewers r idiot enough to cry in their suffering or maybe the characters were dumb but no even kids know that u can drink n use rainwater n they are farmers.Its safe to even drink after filtering n boiling.
It had been on my watchlist for a long time n the wait was worth it . Ren Osugi's style n dialogues,he was cool n Shinichi was super cute .I wonder why is this movie not popular? Loved the cops trolling themselves.A must watch for classic movie lovers who also want good humour n nostalgic ambience . P.S. I remember shuji dint cut his other finger, plothole ?
I love theme like this . Few Dialogues were good but writing was poor .This needed a good soundtrack as well . Would have liked it if i hadn't watched its much refined version "Away With Words"

I watched this for the vibe ,it's a japanese classic drama that everyone should watch,each episode different story n TBH i got bored with few bcz it got dull .
I found few things offensive against women (manzai duet abuse n boob groping of bar girl wearing 2 piece) it's nothing new in cinema n it cnt stop me from watching but i really wish tht people dnt objectify women atleast movie makers should keep this in mind bcz some people follow the actors n they think it's ok to touch n hit women as they please.
It was hard for me to rate this movie bcz i wasnt mentally prepared for this as no comment is available about its main theme. i only came for mystery n that interesting n thrilling poster. I was expectin psychological n mystery ,so let me warn u it wasnt those. But the movie is good.
Now let's talk about this black n white movie, it is bittersweet n emotional, it's about longing n fulfillment of one's desire.If u r looking for Slice of Life n Drama with a bit of mystery i recommend this. I enjoyed the execution n acting of young Shiro Sano.
This drama is better than Hell Dogs on Netflix in terms of thrill n acting but the writing is still poor considering the theme that's 'information control ' .Well it isn't the main theme as the genre turns from thrill to psychological in last 3 episodes which was turn off ,this drama dint need that kind of plot twist considering the limited time to explore everything in a good manner,they should have kept it simple. If someone wants good drama on Netflix with Yakuza characters then 'Tiger and Dragon' is the best.

M guessing the couple did it to themselves ryt bcz the home was theirs only as the photo suggested? Does anyone have any interpretation?
