FL is living without the backing of her family - she can't even use her birth surname so naturally, she has a bit more freedom in her decisions.

It's because she is too smart and too cunning - make for a great scheming wife, not a nurturing mother. Also, she has goals. What goals does her son have other than those that her mother wants him to have? Guy hasn't fought for himself to win anything.

I thought that was a stupid move. She was willing to jeopardize her husband's career prospects only just to please him - she thought going in, as long as she can get her husband on her side, he would act to protect her against MIL. Unfortunately, the one who wield authority is the MIL - pissing her off for nominal gain was a stupid stupid move that has set her back.

Madam Yu doesn't like it when her DIL tests her authority and numerous times, deliberately undermines Yu's schemes. So her way of screwing with her DIL is to constantly remind her of her place and to make her suffer for the title of the wife. She probably never thought her son would actually bat an eye for FL and now that she's dealt with FL numerous times, FL is a formidable DIL that would only drive Madam Yu nuts so of course, she now wants her son to stay away from her. She can handle DIL, but not FL.

FYK, she is her own worst enemy. Her level of insecurity is so magnified even though she has birthed a son. Naturally, this cements her position in the Yu household as the wife - as long as she just keeps up with the status quo, she's sealed her ticket to a comfy life. Instead, she is fighting over every little insignificant conflict. She's worried her husband would fall for a younger version of herself - she doesn't even know him - guy's a scholar. He appreciates arts but the glancing beauty of a flower.

This drama is bound to go down the road of politics. Especially when it started off about salt merchants. I fully enjoy seeing how ML works his way up from a no body illegal salt merchant to one with authority and power. His status is exchanged through his own blood and sweat and those of others.

What I found interesting so far is that the ones that are causing FTY's most grief are women. Women abusing women. First being betrayed by her bestie, then her grandmother, her so called cousin sister in law...but what was surprising is the men (so far). ZL's friends each gifted FTY something to cheer her up for losing clumps of hair. They could just say words for cheering her up but they got her gifts. At that moment, men understood FTY more than the women in her life. Even look at Yan Ke, her father was supportive and as good as he could be for a father (his only fault was that he was just a teacher, a middle class status).

It's hard to say. She is offering a lending help for the toxic window if and when FTY comes to exact her revenge on her. She might just want her to neutralize the threat being posed by FTY in possessing that confession letter from her now daughter in law.

FL can only help if her husband even has the potential and he does. He just lacks the motivation. Yus is like...not worthy of a mention.

I love how FTY got her revenge on her bestie. She merely just wanted to right the wrong from this betrayal. She didn't do more or less. She could have easily ruin her marriage but instead chose to let her have what she got as trade off from her friendship with FTY. I also found it hilarious that FYK was so jealous of FTY being raised in an esteemed household but she didn't seem to realize that the moment FTY became a liability, her own grandmother chose to have her killed off. That's the price of being raised with high social status - any glimmer of tarnish is not tolerated. Now FTY has to rely on herself- not the backing of her family to chart a life for herself - it's a beautiful story and I just love this type of redemption/rise from the ashes type.

I have to say I was skeptical of the pairing since I saw Melody of Golden Age and I didn't really like it. This drama is a reunion of the leads because of their previous popularity. But it goes to show that with a good storyline and pacing, can really enhance a pair.

Their own voices but they dubbed themselves over because you can hear a studio style voiceover. I love we can hear Ryan's voice when he is generally dubbed over by someone for most of his dramas.

Honestly, I'm not rushing to their adulthood. It's refreshing to see their youth mix with high and lows and being supportive of each other - dealing with problems together. The innocence of youth is there and let's just enjoy it while it lasts.

Given how short this drama is, is there any noticeable editing issues? like choppy scenes, etc?

Zhan Zhao actually can't kill. In the universe of Justice Bao - any killing not authorized by the law was murder. Only through a fair trial can they be sentenced to death. In all versions of Zhan Zhao - this is consistent as an imperial court official.

What I've read to explain that is Chu Qiao died. In her dying moments, she saw Zhuge Yue come to her rescue as he always had. The whole old age Zhuge Yue is the 'what if/alternative life that Yan Xun dreamt up. Some viewers said they were 2 alternative endings but it doesn't merry up well. Whether they are or not, it doesn't help the story.

His plan was to uproot all the 'poison' of the royal court including, the new crown prince. He pretended he was loyal to the court but he realizes that power has corrupted even the good hearted 7th prince. So he purposedly used his status to achieve the endgame - which was to remove all obstacles against the just society that FL wanted. Part of that grand plan (that makes no sense) is that he is to sacrifice himself - as his days are numbered from the effects of the poison and the overuse of the medicine he had taken just to stay alive. He was going to make use of what remained of his life to help FL. With his death - his family no longer has that organization that they use to train spies and slaves. If you are still dizzy from this, that is because the plot on this plan makes no sense.

He has a plan - it just doesn't make sense

I went into this with little hope. The only thing that kept me going was Li Yun Ri. I wanted closure as a fan of PA. I finished this series and I an utterly disappointed. So disappointed that I would rather go back to the cliffhanger than to receive this crappy ending to an otherwise amazing series (PA). My head wasn't turning as much as once the Xi Meng arc was over..ML finds himself dragged back into the politics. It went downhill from there. Nothing made sense - no character made sense. As Zhuge Yue said to his grandfather "just assume that I died in that lake" - I need to believe this as well because the 'rebirth' part was really just the actual reconcile of the ML and FL that I wanted.
