Art is Jira's whole life! maybe this isn't targeted toward you if you are getting frustrated with the art in this…
exactly!! I'm also an artist and so thrilled to see such representation in bl. I think something that gets lost in the concept of bl is the fact that some shows just aren't catered to everyone! I think it's so important for media to have a strong voice and explore strong messaging, while recently i have felt shows have become lukewarm in order to cater to everyone and maximise revenue. I can understand how people not interested in art would not be interested in this show, but that certainly doesn't make this show bad.
To be frank, the series is too random sometimes. And no, it's not like this genre or that genre issue. The way…
Art is Jira's whole life! maybe this isn't targeted toward you if you are getting frustrated with the art in this show and that's okay but don't act like there isn't a place for these themes in media
i cant lie, after the recent episode i felt an extreme ego boost at being able to discern pheem to be extremely performative about art with the tattoo and the memorised bullet points about artists since before he admitted it
Also i love Pheem, and i might be wrong, but i feel like he feels quite, lack for a better word, performative.…
and i think that might be why Jira is compelled to Koh more, because while he is a massive asshole, he never once hides or conceals his nature (i do also think that may be because Koh finds it hard to hide from Jira's artistic view of his character). I think the scene where Koh cries at the painting is very important and very telling of their connection. I really love art myself, so im going kinda crazy here sorry
Also i love Pheem, and i might be wrong, but i feel like he feels quite, lack for a better word, performative. The practiced bullet point notes of the artworks, the palm readings, his attitude towards the shirt. It's not a bad thing (definitely not the worst a character in this show has done) but his character from the perspective of Jira feels like an act sometimes.
Noticed this in episode 5: the difference in Koh and Pheem's wine-stained shirts as a reflection of their relationships. Pheem's was artificially curated by Jira while Koh's was made by Jira's real emotional outburst: something that Jira couldn't hold back, a real moment that just uncontrollably flowed out of Jira, much like when he feels compelled to draw Koh. Pheem is Jira's carefully curated partner, but their relationship is lacking the pure emotional and sensual connection that Jira feels to Koh. Maybe i'm reading too much into this, just think its a cool idea.
i dont even care if im biased in one way or another, this show was genuinely beautiful. Haven't seen a happy show done this well in a while, my heart is so full!!
