Very few dramas leave a mark on your heart when you finish them, but I binged watched the last 6 episodes and my heart is so heavy.
It’s 2am. CZY did phenomenally, especially as the timid, PTSD 2.0 hit in the last 2 eps. Ep 36 was heartbreaking and after watching the BTS of CZY and LJ crying during the kidnap scene, the few mins in the episode didn’t do it justice.
LZ was a true hero. SR loved unconditionally. 3 moments of truth stood out to me in this drama.
1. When they both confessed that they were traumatised after the 9.26 bombing. 2. When they apologised to each other after the Matumum attack and SR said she regretted breaking up with him and he apologised for potentially hurting her knowing he was going to come back to Eastern country and potentially die. 3. When LZ confesses that he’s been lying to her about his trauma after the hospital incident in the last eps.
So much angst, keeping truth from the one you love to protect them (heroic idiocy) and misunderstanding. Ultimately, they didn’t give such a heavy ending as the book (based on the comments here), but it was bittersweet nevertheless. They survived, married and left together. However you interpret it.
I knew both were great actors but CZY really stole the show on this. He was exceptional. I couldn’t imagine any other actress pulling off unconditional love and heartache as LJ too.
I’m unsure how we’ll all move on from this. Thank gosh there are some funny BTS to rebalance me. I hope we all live a free life like the last quote said and find our own white olive tree. This show has left a mark on all of our hearts.
nope I hate it smmmm :( I want them to get back togather FAST
I’m glad you are. The way SR is has me cringing at the screen. Somehow I have second hand embarrassment for her lol. LZ is respecting her wishes. When she said if he regretted anything and he looked like he was biting his lip holding back, I cried.
Random question. Does anyone have a count (and scenes) of all the kisses between Bai Shou and Fan Yue? I’m curious to see whether this is one of the cdramas with the most kiss scenes between main leads 😆
Damn, its not a true xianxia if everybody doesn’t die 💔 So I binged ep 34-40 and while the plot had some…
I agree. Releasing 5-6 eps in one go was great but I couldn’t take FY seriously because he would die and then come back 10 mins later. That or he was unconscious again. For me, the proposal death at the Bright Moon Palace was the most touching.
Finally closure to the fox clan plot over the last few eps. A lot more progress with our ML and FL. Was I the only one who felt ARP was a bit flat/ wooden in the secret chamber scene where he was telling her his past and what happened to his Baize Clan? I’ve found his acting pretty good so far. That scene left me wanting more from him. Some moments felt like he was reading the script. Their hug was a bit awkward too.
Just watched the first 5 episode and I’m loving it. Finally a proper xianxia, really enjoying the story , great…
Perhaps it’s cause it’s xianxia and Bai Lu is in it. Plus he’s a demon which was what she was trying to save LYX from becoming in TTEOTM. But I love this also!
I’m glad I’m not alone in that. I’ve only seen one episode and have that same exact reaction. Let’s see…
I’m a DiDi fan and I’m staying here so far for him. I’m also in agreement that the slapstick /this genre of comedy is not for me. I’ve found myself laughing once or twice but it is quite unbelievable how fast he’s adapted. I am looking forward to him joining the guardians and solving more cases. Not sure how they’ll run 40 eps with this pacing and genre. I have been anticipating this show for over a year.
Starting from Welcome Samdarli, to Will Love In Spring, to Love Next Door, to another cdrama whose name I forgot…
I also think Lee Se Young ( who I love BTW) is acting in similar plots with emerging actors as of late. Bae In Hyuk/ Na In Woo give me the same vibes tbh, and I miss her venturing out and doing other roles besides the bright, happy go lucky characters. Even her last drama What Happens After Love, although more mellow, was about her leaving and returning home.
Would be good to see her in a different thriller/suspense + romance role such as something similar to When the Phone Rings or her 2020 Kairos/Memorist days.
I agree. With everything and more. TSOPG started off really strong but it really fell flat for me after ep 19 so. And the ending was just meh.
Randomly, I clicked on your profile and saw Jin Yong TVB is where your heart lies. It’s also where my heart for dramas was born. The 90s rendition of The Legend/Return of The Condor Heroes and The Heavenly Dragon and Crimson Sabre are my all time faves.
okay, so what we know.BSE: Not the real sonHHJ: Not the real wife, selectively muteIn-A: Is back, what does she…
Have I missed something? When was BSE not the real son? lol I know Sang Woo has a history with the son in his storytelling and the flash back But BSE died and they replaced him with the one we see now?
wow, is no one else annoyed at the fl? like, she is so stupid. i wished she would have handed over 406's phone…
Don’t deny that Hee Joo is flawed and the rationale around why 406 would want SE to leave her is weak.
But remember she’s been controlled all her life - told to be mute, forced to marry him (she doesn’t know that he likes her though) and living like a puppet. Yes, it is foolish of her to threaten him knowing there’s someone out there trying to harm them, but she’s trying to protect herself/ her dad.
At this stage she’s confused by SE’s intentions - he’s warm and cold. She hasn’t developed strong feelings for him; or doesn’t know it. I reckon she’s warmed to him but doesn’t know it. The “crazy” obsession with learning his speeches and the way he talks.

90s Louis or Julian will always have a place in my heart.
And the fact that JY cast them himself, means it’s quite special. 🥰
