I really enjoyed this drama - there were aspects that I found questionable, but I put much of that down to my western bias like I have to do with many other dramas. I don’t believe that the toxicity was romanticised - instead, I feel that as an audience, our feelings were manipulated to mirror Flora’s - where we were taken in by charisma but ultimately fell for, loved and committed to a real person with flaws (as anyone in a long term relationship does in the end). Jing Boran and Sun Qian were amazing in bringing this to life.

I had this on hold for a while and finally chose to drop it. Whilst it was a reasonable enough watch, I kept putting it off for other dramas and rewatches. I just wasn’t making time for it which explains how poorly invested I ultimately was.

Loving the Luke x 2 dynamic. So so so cute. We are now being seriously coerced into loving Luke snr’s soft side - we are gonna get hit hard by this breakup methinks…..

This was great, but like many dramas recently, the second half did not quite live up to the first half. Being in the capital in the second half meant that we did not get the beautiful desert scenery that was so compelling in the first half. Once I realised that the romance was not the main point here, I enjoyed the political stuff. Their relationship was actually quite realistic and rather comforting.

Agreed - Lumi and Luke maybe, but Flora only sometimes.

Number 10 on Netflix Aus/ NZ amazing!

Episode was a real change of pace and mood - not sure if it worked for me or not.

I feel like it might be more in the drama - he seems to be too successful and senior to only have a 6 year age gap with a rookie.

Was anyone thinking that we’d get to see Luke play in the basketball game? I so thought that was where it was going and then nothing…..

I agree to a point, but this drama is helped by the fact that there are limited side plots and no real second lead story. I am just thinking about it as The First Frost length but without the second lead / grandparents story which was arguably the weakest aspect of the whole drama.

Which of his other dramas would you recommend?

There is so much to object to here - but instead of dropping it in disgust, I am seriously invested - what is wrong with me?

Yes - who would have thought that he could be so funny and cute as a third wheel!

Yes - especially considering that the ML has only a year to live! Time should be everything but it isn’t.

I agree - he is divine and really refreshing here. I was really affected by the scene where he was enduring the needles in his back (ep 25. I think). His ability to show that excruciating pain was impressive.
