The love bond between two lovers manifests in opposite ways, in the way they show to each other. It seems to each other, the other didn't care at all. its the Korean version of the Ali Macgraw/Ryan O Neal Love Story with a back to the past and future twists. Yet it has managed to retain a flavour on its own. I have watched it twice and each time it gives me a different feeling. Though sad, I'm hopeful true love will withstand test of time. If you are a fan of the JJangs, their chemistry shines again here, pls don't get upset bcos this love story is different. After this, I hope they will continue to work together.

Was stumped w this drama in a positive sense. Japanese tragic dramas can be heavy but this one was punctuated w some positive vibes. A plutocrat family but in a sense a tribe isnt it where you have to follow the elders lead, out of conformity, cultural binds. The song Desperado being played throughout the drama is an apt choice. Hats off to Takuya Kimura who played Tenppei Manpyo , i have always liked him but in here he has shown his ability to deliver subtle emotions. You cant help but empathise with Kitaoji Kinya who played the "evil" father. The narration gave a perspective of the economic challenges in that era and remember dont be tempted to stop the player when you think its the ending. Listen to the last message from Tenppei.

i watched this bcos of Shim Eun Kyung's award, thought if she won an award, her portrayal of the character must have been good. was not disappointed, SEK was brilliant in her performance and she delivered a charming young lady w remnants of her old self and i cld empathize with the character. some parts comical, some parts cliche, but a v enjoyable movie.

Its a simple story, but the director's cut on some crucial scenes and dialogs can make you flabbergasted. Due to the cuts, the audience is left to figure out or piece it together. The ending is a bit of a puzzle for some audiences so this is also becos of the director. When i first watched it i thought of the American Fatal Attraction but then this movie is different in many ways - the emotions are raw, its in a different cultural context, the fatal attraction is between 2 persons w wide age gap. The number of characters are small and so it was left to the actors/actrresses to deliver it. There was also some flipping of scenes, so piecing the scenes was important to understand the movie better. Jang Hyuk is brilliant in this, there is limited scope for his character but yet he could deliver well. I have learnt to trust Jang Hyuk in his performances, sometimes the storyline may not be great, but he wld always bring the character to life. What was most interesting to me was that in a country with Confuscian philosophies and strong cultural binds, this movie was made.

What a wonderful surprise. Not depressing though death is featured throughout. I like the way the Ihara family is portrayed in such a realistic manner, Its scary enough to see a dead body and a coffin, worse still when the means of income is through death. Its a drama about respect for the bereaved and the dead. Through death there is love and hope for the future. Though a delicate subject, yet it was delivered with such beauty and subtlety.

Enjoyed this v much, laughed and cried. A seemingly dysfunctional family that goes all out to fulfill the family values and philosophies. Part and yet whole. Love conquers all. Fell in love with it by the time i was at episode 2. Story setting in Shitamachi is real and will give audience a sense of the possibility becos it is a close community. This drama will give you an insight into the real lives and burst the bubble of misperception abt Japanese people and their families that non Japanese may have. I wish i can figure out the OST used during credit roll. The theme song of the drama is catchy and the lyrics are beautiful.

This is OTT makjang. Good to watch when you need to cry and release stress. A bit mangled plot and aome parts draggy, but hey, it's one of the hallmarks of makjang. I prefer the villain, I think his expression was better than male lead. Gorgeous clothes and shoes and I wished I could look so good as the female leads.

Very nice surprise, started to watch this when I was bored. Before I knew, I got hooked. Storyline not plausible, w some gaps and mismatch but becos of the casting, it became thoroughly enjoyable. In fact watched non subtitled release on weekly basis bcos I got hooked. Great chemistry between the two leads, now I will watch their previous productions. Park Bo Young is polished for her age, she played two roles and able to switch from one to other very nicely. Jo Jung Suk sings well and due to chemistry w Park, they delivered. Daebak.

I was struck, pardon the pun. Pleasantly struck too. At one point, about 3/4 of the movie, I thought it was going to sizzle down but I was surprised. Even though youth this is a 2004 production and of course some parts are aged as it's not a historical movie as in clothes etc, story line is simple but the 2 leads more than make up for it. Corny, cheesy in parts and some adaptation of Ghost (American movie), but do watch it.
