There Is A Plot!

I've seen a lot of criticism of My Safe Zone's plot; mainly, viewers saying that there isn't one, which I disagree with. If you're paying attention, the series tells us precisely what it is. Jane is Alin's safe zone, and the series is constructed around that single fact.

What I do agree with is that things moved too quickly. Jane and Alin were put into so many scenarios that we barely had time to recover from the last mishap in their relationship. This threw the series's pacing off. My Safe Zone could have benefited from either more episodes or fewer plot points to keep the story grounded and give the more significant points more time to be explored.

The true gem of My Safe Zone is the chemistry between Lena and Miu; no one can top what they gave us in My Safe Zone. And I'm not referring to the intimate scenes or their great acting performances. They have a give-and-take that I'm sure stems from their longtime friendship, which really gives life and sincerity to Jane and Alin's relationship. I really want to give props to the director for not stifling natural chemistry.

I'm looking forward to their next series, where hopefully they are given a great script with roles that suit them and their abilities.

Chronically Under-Hyped

Runaway is probably the most slept on GL of 2025. I want someone to reply to this one day, asking if I'm crazy, because it's finally exploded in popularity. Runaway is not just good for a GL, but a great series overall. I myself didn't start watching the series until halfway through its run because I'm not a fan of horror, but I was convinced to take a chance on it. I'm urging you to do the same, because after watching the series, it has become my all-time second-favorite GL series as of the end of 2025.

What I liked about Runaway is that the GL aspect of the story was woven naturally into the series, and it didn't feel like someone had an idea for a GL series without care for the rest of the story. Nothing was forced, and everything felt like it progressed as it should.

Next, I want to commend the entire cast's performance. I always judge a cast's performance by their ability not to pull me out of the story, and I was very committed to every episode.

Lastly, the only reason I did not give Runaway a ten is because, in my opinion, some storylines needed a bit more resolving. I want to know what kind of lives Boon and Win's parents lead. What are their relationships with them like now? How is the final moment of the finale resolved? I'm hoping we get an additional episode, at which time I will revise my review.

All in all, Runaway is a breath of fresh air in the GL space. I hope all GL fans experience this series one day so that it receives the flowers it deserves.

Some Quality Inconsistencies, But A Great Story Nonetheless

Dangerous Queen had several technical imperfections throughout the series, mostly to do with sound inconsistency; please do not let this discourage you from watching the show. TK and Nur have great chemistry and I personally believe their performances deserve applause, especially since this is TK's first series. I know some viewers were not a fan of the long stares, but to me this was a great display of longing.

As for the story, I think it was executed well. It was believable to me, the viewer. The one and only redemption arc at the end of the series seemed realistic to me. Though the sins of that person were not wildly egregious, so it was much easier to forgive them. The story had great pacing, I don't remember experiencing any lulls; it kept me engaged.

Also, the last episode in my opinion was not rushed, which is great to see, as it is something that often plagues GLs which have an episode count that is on the lower side. It is probably the best finale I have seen in a GL; it is usually where amazing GLs lose the audience due to the production team wanting to wrap the series up in a neat little bow.

If it weren't for the technical difficulties, I would give Dangerous Queen a ten, but hey, for the first GL Snur has produced, it was not bad. I hope they create more and improve in the future. I would love to see TK and Nur in a series together again.

A Green Flag Only Relationship.

Probably the sweetest and most unproblematic GL to exist. If you want to feel good and watch two leads with amazing chemistry fall in love, this is for you. Love Design is an instant classic and I can see this being a title I'll rewatch every fall.

Velcurve did a commendable job with every aspect of this drama. Everyone who worked on this must love their craft, because it shows. This is a must watch.

Love Design is cozy and uplifting and the romance is turned up to ten. It will definitely make you believe in love again.

The Post Production Editing Was Distracting

It got better the sadder it got and I'm sure that says something about me as a viewer. I enjoyed the last three episodes because they had to tone down the excessive amount of sound and visual effects used in the first half of the series to match the more serious tone of the second half. I hope Baipor and BamBam get another chance to shine in a true drama together. Their chemistry was good and I think they proved it is something they can do.

Could have been one of the best...

My Only Sunshine is definitely going to be my biggest disappointment of the year. The series had the potential to be one the best for 2026. The cast has chemistry, it has a fantastic OST and on a technical level, it is one of the best so far this year.

Unfortunately, even with a mostly good story, the series had to go ahead and romanticize sexual assault. Flint apologized to everyone about everything expect for the actual crime she committed when she raped Sun because she "loves" her.

I get it, sexual assault is an unfortunate fact of life, so I didn't have an issue with that scene itself. My issue is that it was then passed off as romantic and made it seemed like Flint was justified in her actions towards Sun.

I could not imagine rewatching this. Such a disappointment.

The Feeling Of Dread Is Real

I want to start by saying, despite the title. I thoroughly enjoyed Reverse With Me. I put off watching this series due to its average rating, but I am happy to report that it is one of my favorite GLs this year.

As stated in the title, the feeling of dread is very real in Reverse With Me. The series' premise sets the viewer up to always wonder when and how the foretold tragedy will occur, and how present-day actions will change the future. I found myself often holding my breath, waiting for the other shoe to drop.

But don't let this turn you away. Along with that feeling of dread, Reverse With Me nails the romance. Natt and Pitcha have excellent chemistry and embody their characters well. They give us enough to believe that they do care for each other on a soulmate level.

Apart from the time-travel elements of the series that drive the story, I admire how they were able to tell the backstories of all the key players. I find that GLs try to tell us a lot in a finite amount of time, and I do believe that Reverse with me found the right balance in how much they showed us. I am especially fond of how they constructed Kliaokhluen's backstory. It felt authentic, and I did not once think she was overreacting to her circumstances.

I want to end this review by urging you to give Reverse With Me a chance if you have not watched it yet. It is a good mix of romance, fantasy, and drama. I hope to see Natt and Pitcha in a series together again.

Slow Start...Ended Better Than Predicted

For me, this series was just middle-of-the-road. I was happy for another Englot Series, but having them star in Unlimited Love was not enough.

The beginning of Unlimited Love was very slow in terms of character and relationship building among the main ensemble cast. A lot of the show's bandwidth is devoted to the episodic elements of Unlimited Love. On top of that, the early story messaging was very superficial, which was distracting and problematic. While I believe every story has a right to be told, I thought we were beyond these kinds of surface-level stories in 2025.

But the series was not all bad. The last couple of episodes of Unlimited Love gave us what they should have from the start. It was hilarious, and the pairings all finally took steps in their relationships. This was nice to see, as I do believe MGI did an excellent job chemistry-wise with all the couples, and I wish we had the chance to see more of their relationship dynamics. I hope MGI gives them more opportunities to shine as pairings outside of an ensemble cast.

All in all, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great.

The romance was there, but...

Broken of Love is not your typical GL, and I think that’s what led to such polarizing opinions about the series as a whole. In my opinion, the story is driven more by Arisa’s personal goals than by her relationship with Lalin. While their relationship is heavily featured, much of the series focuses on Arisa’s desire for revenge, which makes the GL aspect secondary to the main plot. Coincidentally, that’s what I enjoyed most about it.

I’m a strong advocate for GLs expanding their storytelling, and I think Fabel Entertainment did a fantastic job of giving viewers something different from the norm. The series reminded me a lot of what Monomax achieved with Heart Code earlier this year. It was beautifully shot and attempted to tell its story without relying on the conventional styles we repeatedly see in Thai GLs.

Beyond that, I’d also like to applaud the cast’s performances. I think everyone played their roles well, and I hope the newly established pairings get the chance to work together again in future projects. It would be great to see a full GL series led by an older couple. Overall, I’m excited to see what Fable has in store for the future.

Every moment is worth watching.

The Earth gave the 4 Elements series a strong start, and The Water has built on that tenfold. I’m not sure how The Air and The Fire are going to top this, but I wish them luck.

Before The Water, I would have said that Petrichor was the best script Englot had ever been given, but The Water surpasses it by miles. If this ends up being their final series together, I honestly could not ask for more. It would be a perfect way to conclude such a successful pairing.

The series featured exceptional writing, beautiful cinematography, and strong performances across the board. Every painful moment felt worth it because the writers delivered on the emotional payoff so effectively, which was elevated even further by Engfa and Charlotte’s undeniable chemistry and, most importantly, their talent. I would love to see them star in another series together because, whether the script is excellent or flawed, they always deliver. I will always look forward to seeing them on my screen.

The Water is not only part of the best ensemble project I’ve seen in Thai GL, but more importantly, it stands as a leading contender for one of the best series of the year.

If you haven’t started the 4 Elements series yet, do it. There is a lot of heartache, but you won’t be disappointed.

Tan and Yada were sweet, but also a victim of Ch3...

I enjoyed the series overall. The moments Lin and Ing shared together were sweet, but the story lacked flow, which is an ongoing issue with Ch3's writing. I know Tan's acting has been criticized, but I'd like to argue in her defense that the lines she were given weren't the best or natural to begin with. Other than that, I think Tan and Yada have good chemistry and I look forward to them starring in another GL together.

It's So Unserious

I didn't know what to expect before watching Somewhere Somehow, as this was the first time I’ve watched a drama featuring Fay and May. However, I was excited because I saw it would feature Lookam in a significant role. The series is shot beautifully, and I'm especially a fan of the cinematography captured in Japan.

As for the script, it was good but could have been better. I understand that the series is a comedy, but there were times when the story called for a more serious tone, yet the writers refused to let us sit in it; it was often interrupted by comic relief.

Although the series should have been more serious at times, I also believe Somewhere Somehow excels as a comedy. I found myself especially amused by the second of the season. The shining star here is definitely Looknam. The woman is a natural comic, and I fear that if they ever give her a GL pairing, we will not survive it. She is a gem of an actress, and I hope Idol Factory gives her a leading role one day.

When it comes to the leads, I believe they did a good job for the most part. Fay and May had good chemistry, which gave credibility to the characters they were playing. I will say, they do need to work on their comedic delivery, but this could be a directorial issue. Personally, I hope they let May be happy in her next role; they made her cry so much in this series. I know it had to be emotionally taxing to go to work every day. And yes, I know the constant crying was meant to illustrate the sacrifice her character was willing to make for love, but it was a lot.

If you are looking for a funny, cute, and beautifully shot series that does not take itself seriously, you will enjoy Somewhere Somehow.

The Story Needed Some Work

I'm not going to lie, this was a tough watch for me. I'm usually someone who enjoys most series, but the series' setup created an immediate disconnect for me, which tainted my view of most of the show.

I know they wrote the setup the way they did to force the couples into situations where their relationships could grow. Unfortunately, the way they did it was illogical. I won't say what it was here for spoiler reasons, but it's a very early plot point that will leave you scratching your head because it makes no sense. What is sad is that there was a straightforward way to achieve what the writers were going for, without creating that disconnect between the story and the viewers.

Also, the whole series reads weirdly like an advertisement, which made it feel like the story was secondary to the ads, when it should be the other way around.

With all that said, it wasn't all bad. Tian's performance in the series was as great as it could be with the script she was given. She especially got her moment to shine in episode four (which, in my opinion, was the best episode of the series), where her performance almost made me forget the problems I had with the writing throughout the rest of the show.

I'm thankful that the series ended better than it started. I'm curious if Viberberry Studio will still be making Mission: Love or Lies 2. If they do, I hope they build a more believable story and give the actors an opportunity to really shine.
