#houminghao: the biggest challenge with this character was making sure the portrayal didn’t feel fragmented, and instead presenting him to the audience in a smoother, more seamless way.
so my approach to designing lu jianglai was, when he’s dealing with people in officialdom, he should carry himself more relaxed and confident.
#houminghao: the thing that attracts me most about the character lu jianglai is his richness and complexity. because at first, he starts out as a stableman, then transforms into a young lord, and later becoming the young lady’s beloved. then later regains his true identity as the imperial inspector of eight prefectures. after that, he helps the rong family solve cases, and along the way he also searches for the mystery of his own origins. throughout this entire journey, the layers of his experiences, growth, and transformation are incredibly rich.
