Don't Even Bother -

The quality of this drama is so bad that I am here write this review. My first review on MDL ever.

Unless you're watching LOF for the actors, do not watch this drama. The plot is super faulty. Not cohesive at all. It's like person 1 wrote eps 1-3 and then person 2 wrote 4-6 without reviewing what person 1 wrote.

ZF's character is super stiff - very different from the novel. There is more character growth for the side characters than the main. Towards the 2nd half, you wonder if this story is still about ZF. Is she really the center of this story? Like if you take her out of the plot, the story will probably still continue.

Production work is just bad. A group of film students with no experience can do better. Just pure wonky - The lighting is never consistent. Half the time, the character's faces aren't lit. Camera compositions are off - or you wonder why you're looking at one thing when the characters are talking about something entirely different. There's zero visual storytelling. What the dialogue says is what you will probably see.

When a production crew loves the work they do, it will be obvious to the viewers. Unfortunately for LOF, the message I received from their production crew is, "let's just get this over with and make money." Why this drama has such high ratings is unknown to me.

You may ask, "if you hate it so much, why did you finish the whole thing?" Welp, I don't know how to answer that. I just know, when I think back, the only memorable part is in Episode 1 where there’s a Wang Yibo sitting a tree wearing nice black robes.

(I just want to say, actors do not determine the success of a film/drama. Good story, good script, good directors, good technical hands, and more are ALL equally important.)
