something felt kinda missing in this last season. it didn't hit with the same depth or emotional layers as the previous ones. maybe it's because this season was the shortest (?) anw i still love Yumi's Cells so much. i literally rewatched every season before starting this because of all the hype. the ml was the perfect casting for that puppy boyfriend vibe and absolutely nailed soon rok. i just wish we got to see more of them, especially since he's literally yumi's endgame husband
Maybe it's because the film is based on a historical figure, so they were limited by the actual history and couldn't take many creative liberties. The story just wasn't that exciting for me. It's kind of sad, but there wasn't anything that really stood out. I think Koreans would probably be more immersed in it since it's about one of their late kings. Acting wise, though, Park Jihoon has definitely improved.
the cinematography, the ost, and the acting were all so good. it's just a simple slice of life story but it hit…
although i do think woong deserves a second chance just as much as babi, we saw that yumi didn't have any feelings left for babi even when they got back together, despite how much he still loved her. and i think that's what the last scene with babi smiling on the flight meant, right? :(
i may not like babi as much as woong, but he's the reason yumi has the career she does now. they were even planning to get married. i guess it's true that some people come into your life to teach you a lesson, not to stay.
the cinematography, the ost, and the acting were all so good. it's just a simple slice of life story but it hit way too close to home. i cried a few times because yumi felt so relatable. love this series so much!
Choi Min Sik's acting was incredible and the plot kept me invested the whole time. i thought a story about literature and writing would be a bit slow but i was so wrong. finished everything in one day.
i guessed the ending pretty early on, but the reason behind it wasn't exactly what i was hoping for. but i guess that's the point. stories can be written to keep you on the edge of your seat, while real life is often much simpler and not always filled with twists.
i think the last ep is the only episode that was good from start to finish. i get that the writer was going for an emotional drama with a bit of romcom on the side, but the pacing was way too slow and honestly got boring at times. there were moments where it felt hard to even finish an episode. i feel like it would've worked much better if it was cut down to 10 or 12 episodes. the cp dynamic is really carrying this series because everything else feels like a pretty standard k-drama with nothing particularly special. they're lucky they cast Heo Namjun, that's all i'm gonna say.
GMMTV better submit Krist for awards because his performance in this role was incredible. The range, the emotions, everything was so well done. He really deserves the recognition for it!
The CGI and animation are absolutely stunning and the whole concept is so creative. It does get a bit overwhelming at times though. It honestly feels like stepping into an ADHD mind in the coolest, most mesmerizing way possible.
The story, on the other hand, was pretty confusing. I wish they'd given it more runtime to properly introduce the world and flesh out the characters. Since it's a sci fi story, I think a longer runtime would've helped viewers understand the worldbuilding and connect with the characters a lot more.
it's a fun little movie about dads and their kids. would've been perfect if the kid was actually korean tho. his korean kinda gave it away and broke the immersion a bit. moodeng & jack's baby tho... too cute. i love them sm!
rewatching yumi's cells before s3 and i finally remembered why i never started s2 despite loving this series so much.
i still can't move on from woong and yumi's breakup. i cried so much in both the webtoon and the drama. woong is still her best ex-boyfriend in my eyes.
how am i supposed to watch s2 when i'm still this heartbroken :((
the last 2 eps had me bawling 😭 hayato’s acting feels so natural, while taecyeon’s emotional scenes absolutely kill me every time. it’s another j-trauma plot, which i’m already familiar with, but their relationship was still so beautiful to watch. i just wish they defined it more clearly throughout the eps instead of sticking to the whole “friends with deep affection” dynamic. everyone around them could already see how they truly felt about each other anyway 😭 it was basically an open secret, so i wish they’d been a little bolder with their words or actions sometimes.
i really thought the writer was gonna use arata more later in the story, but it seems like he was mainly there to open ryu’s eyes to that side of the world. it also felt kinda weird how fast ryu moved on from arata to johan, considering how significant arata was in his life before.
also… isn’t the title actually genius? like “soulmate” but also “seoul mate” since johan is from seoul 😭 a mate from seoul… that’s actually so smart.
VERY funny and entertaining superhero drama 😭 never thought eun bin and eun woo’s pairing would be this good but they were sooo fun together. and dae hoon??? god that man was cracking me up every single time 🤣 if he’s in a comedy drama you already know the comedy part is gonna deliver. finished this way too fast i seriously need season 2 already 😭
it’s a deep story about life and death but wrapped in such natural comedy from the cast. sometimes i catch myself imagining certain scenes as an anime and they’d honestly be a thousand times funnier 😭😂
the rebooting parts can feel a bit boring at times, but there’s always something different happening after that, so i still enjoyed it overall. and their friendship… yeah i’d die for a bond like that.
there are also so many famous guest actors appearing throughout the drama, you can really tell Nippon TV favored this project a lot with how stacked the guest cast is.
some scenes and timeline stuff can get confusing and probably could’ve been explained better, but aside from that, everything else was really nice.
