i think the last ep is the only episode that was good from start to finish. i get that the writer was going for an emotional drama with a bit of romcom on the side, but the pacing was way too slow and honestly got boring at times. there were moments where it felt hard to even finish an episode. i feel like it would've worked much better if it was cut down to 10 or 12 episodes. the cp dynamic is really carrying this series because everything else feels like a pretty standard k-drama with nothing particularly special. they're lucky they cast Heo Namjun, that's all i'm gonna say.
GMMTV better submit Krist for awards because his performance in this role was incredible. The range, the emotions, everything was so well done. He really deserves the recognition for it!
The CGI and animation are absolutely stunning and the whole concept is so creative. It does get a bit overwhelming at times though. It honestly feels like stepping into an ADHD mind in the coolest, most mesmerizing way possible.
The story, on the other hand, was pretty confusing. I wish they'd given it more runtime to properly introduce the world and flesh out the characters. Since it's a sci fi story, I think a longer runtime would've helped viewers understand the worldbuilding and connect with the characters a lot more.
it's a fun little movie about dads and their kids. would've been perfect if the kid was actually korean tho. his korean kinda gave it away and broke the immersion a bit. moodeng & jack's baby tho... too cute. i love them sm!
rewatching yumi's cells before s3 and i finally remembered why i never started s2 despite loving this series so much.
i still can't move on from woong and yumi's breakup. i cried so much in both the webtoon and the drama. woong is still her best ex-boyfriend in my eyes.
how am i supposed to watch s2 when i'm still this heartbroken :((
the last 2 eps had me bawling 😭 hayato’s acting feels so natural, while taecyeon’s emotional scenes absolutely kill me every time. it’s another j-trauma plot, which i’m already familiar with, but their relationship was still so beautiful to watch. i just wish they defined it more clearly throughout the eps instead of sticking to the whole “friends with deep affection” dynamic. everyone around them could already see how they truly felt about each other anyway 😭 it was basically an open secret, so i wish they’d been a little bolder with their words or actions sometimes.
i really thought the writer was gonna use arata more later in the story, but it seems like he was mainly there to open ryu’s eyes to that side of the world. it also felt kinda weird how fast ryu moved on from arata to johan, considering how significant arata was in his life before.
also… isn’t the title actually genius? like “soulmate” but also “seoul mate” since johan is from seoul 😭 a mate from seoul… that’s actually so smart.
VERY funny and entertaining superhero drama 😭 never thought eun bin and eun woo’s pairing would be this good but they were sooo fun together. and dae hoon??? god that man was cracking me up every single time 🤣 if he’s in a comedy drama you already know the comedy part is gonna deliver. finished this way too fast i seriously need season 2 already 😭
it’s a deep story about life and death but wrapped in such natural comedy from the cast. sometimes i catch myself imagining certain scenes as an anime and they’d honestly be a thousand times funnier 😭😂
the rebooting parts can feel a bit boring at times, but there’s always something different happening after that, so i still enjoyed it overall. and their friendship… yeah i’d die for a bond like that.
there are also so many famous guest actors appearing throughout the drama, you can really tell Nippon TV favored this project a lot with how stacked the guest cast is.
some scenes and timeline stuff can get confusing and probably could’ve been explained better, but aside from that, everything else was really nice.
Yeah, I've been describing it as shounen-ai/asexual. It's definitely got some romantic undertones going on (have…
yes! shounen ai/soft bl is the perfect way to describe their dynamic rn. tbh i hope they don't shut down the possibility considering the amount of not-so-bromance scenes they've shown in the series.
it doesn’t really feel like “bromance” to me tbh, at least not by my standard. it lowkey feels like i’m watching a BL in the making but in a horror fantasy setting lol. i’d actually be happy if it turns out that way tbh
Sky’s acting is really good. he does that serious idgaf vibe so well, but his facial expressions still slip through instead of just giving a flat poker face. his character is still super mysterious to me and i really wanna know more about him. same goes for Pete and his sister relationship, there’s something about it too
and Krist… how did they even turn him into something that unsettling 😭 it’s so spooky but in a really good way. and the fact that he can just hold a full conversation in Chinese with Wave is actually insane. his pronunciation is so clean, he definitely put in serious work for that
it’s such a great look into how underground idols do events and stuff, especially the popularity ranking that literally decides your position 😭 it’s really interesting, and now i totally get eripiyo too because she’s got me wanting to stan maina as well 😆
i rarely watch cdramas bc the episode count always scares me off 😭 but this one had me hooked till the very end. every episode was worth it. the cinematography was beautiful, the acting was insane especially xi wei’s, and the chemistry between every couple felt so natural.
what i loved the most is how every character had their own story to tell. by the end, i couldn’t even fully hate the antagonists anymore bc you could understand why they turned out that way. and don’t even get me started on the alternate happy ending… it healed absolutely nothing 😭 10/10 drama for me fr
it was exciting at first, but episode by episode it just got kinda meh. nothing really stands out, and they missed a lot of details too. the plot feels super basic and simple, even with the ml’s father case. the only thing keeping it watchable is yoo yoonseok’s acting, he’s so expressive and can switch into any character so easily. other than that, there’s really nothing that interesting going on.
This series looks pretty interesting, especially the cinematography. You don’t really see this kind of visual style in other GMMTV shows.
My only issue with the first episode is the pacing, it feels a bit too fast. I wish they took more time to introduce the characters and show what their lives were like before they met.
I was actually surprised by Sea’s acting, he did really well even with just a cameo. This is my first time seeing Sky and Nani’s dynamic too, and it honestly feels like more than just bromance with all the touches and dialogue.
Since it’s tagged as LGBTQ+ on iQIYI, maybe we’ll actually get something along those lines in the story.
