I haven't read the novel, but from what I've read from the previous comments some of the foreshadowed couples in the show weren't canon in the novel. If I read correctly, the show is already quite different from the novel, so we can't know for sure what to expect :)

That really looked like a younger version of Charlie, so much so I didn't even question it... well a loophole is a loophole for a reason, I still think Charlie isn't as bad as he's made to believe in the spy department

It was Charlie that was holding Babe in Babe's flashback of when he ran away from his foster father Tony.... Charlie looked distressed when Babe was getting hit, so I think he is trying to protect Babe this time around. Also, through Charlie's expressions, it's clear he likes Babe. BUT why doesn't Babe recognize him? That's the only loophole that has me questioning my theory...
