The main reason their relationship became even more fragile is their job. So I think flora leaving Luke and the company is the reason they can make it work this time. I think there is a point here too. We mostly see office romances and they live happily ever after but here they are showing the reality of harshness.

The reason for their breakup seems to be pretty obvious. I think the breakup is needed for them both to realize their mistakes and fix their love.
