Just don’t watch it, it’s not worth it

I’ll be honest, I started watching this show to “hate watch” it, but a part of me hoped it might surprise me.
It only surprised me by being worse than I had expected and my expectations were already low from the get-go based on the run-time for the episodes and the length of time that they spent filming.

The only “enjoyment” that I really derived came from laughing at the moments which were poorly acted, the bad special effects, the odd plot change decisions, etc.

I originally dropped the show after seeing the first 2-3 episodes, but picked it back up again because of a strange rumor that it’s told from Jiang Zhe’s (Kang Chul’s) perspective which made me want to find out if that happens. This is NOT true, do not let this rumor sucker you into watching this show. Even if the rumor was true, it still isn’t worth it.

The chemistry between the actors borders on non-existent. There were infinitesimally small moments where I was like: “Oh my gosh! Finally, a cute moment where they seem to be forming some semblance of chemistry!”
And then they kiss and it’s like: “Nope, they’ve got nothing.”

Even their versions of the biggest swoon-worthy scenes from the original fall utterly flat and feel butchered. It’s really telling about the lack of chemistry when they chose to fade to black during the jailhouse kiss.
The cute cuddling while reading together on the bed scene? Felt more like two friends at a sleepover laying side-by-side as they read a book together and not like two people who just got married and are in love or falling in love with each other.

The special effects aren’t the worst I’ve ever seen, but still pretty bad, especially when it came to covering up the female lead’s dad’s face when he’s supposed to be faceless.

The OST is… okay. The main title is the only one that’s kind of a bop, I swear one of the songs was a cover of one of the actual original W OST songs.

Save yourself, save your sanity, watch the original W: Two Worlds, don’t watch this.
