Yes I agree everything was very fast paced. Even the transitions between scenes are very stark, compared to earlier episodes. But I guess I prefer it to be quick than draggy. I like how she was away from the palace for a year in the drama but only 15-20min in the episode 😂 I’ve seen other dramas drag and drag scenes where the leads are apart

She can’t trust the king because she knows that the king would have to choose between saving deok im’s friend, who is just a powerless court maid, and his own loyal subject, who is an influential minister. Deok im also knows that the king is very forgiving of deok ro. So if she leaves this to the king this whole issue might have been covered up. As a result deok ro wont face any consequences and her friend might be sacrificed in the process. This is also what deok im said to the king in the library to explain why she didn’t believe his promise. Because she knew that he would make a calculated political decision that was to his own benefit, and in that process her friend could end up dead.
To me it’s understandable and also ties in with why she’s rejecting him.
