But u know what, I kind of agree? All the female leads in historical dramas (and even not leads) sometimes feel too smart (esp book smart) for their time and status. But we now live in a world where most women are educated, so it would be hard to relate if the female lead wasn’t portrayed as learned or literate?

They are also taught to read and write I think? Deok im isn’t just book smart, she’s perceptive and has good social skills. You don’t really need to study all day to develop that
I love how this drama doesn’t overplay the ost during the drama or rely on it to signal romantic moments. I love historical drama osts but at this point so many of them sound so familiar I can sing along after listening to them twice.
And also slow motion!!! Not overused in this drama. I hate slow motion so much lol. I hope they keep this up. Truly romantic moments don’t need overused slow motion lol
I spy the MDL ratings slowly increasing. I usually don’t care for MDL ratings of dramas I’m watching but when this show’s rating was 8.2, i was so sceptical about the rating system LOL. Finally it’s at a rating that it deserves!!
Y’all saying that the bridge scene with deok ro and deokim is creepy but have y’all considered how creepy he is towards his own sister??? He literally only sees her as a tool to gain more power. I got goosebumps when he said it’s good that his sister likes the palace… ewwww
